Eddie Fisher has no posts... so I can't find out who it is. Suggest you take it up with Korn if you have an issue with 'him' setting you as enemy.

/shrug I rated as spam, my first rating assigned to any post here *proud*
1)The account was made seemingly with one purpose, to recruit for a TV 'documentary'
2)I have a pathological hatred of the BBC. One of my GPz's got written off outside the Pebble Mill offices/studio by a cameraman pulling across me as 'he was late for filming an interview', no apology, no concern, just 'Can we hurry this up, I'm late'. Yes, I can be that small minded and petty, I loved that bike Crying or Very sad
3)I have no television, hate the things. Yet every few months I get threatening letters saying 'buy your TV license now...' despite regularly informing them (fairly voluably after the first few times) that there was no set in the house.
Enough random self justification, I'll poddle off and be bitter somewhere else now Very Happy

At least it sparked a debate.

Right, I'm off to put an ad in Heat magazine to attract the shopping types.

So, he's not really selling us the idea for/advertising to us, yet another pants reality tv show?

It worked tho, even tho he obviously wasn't advertising, he's got everyone talking about it.

Must've been a subliminal message, I wonder if you read it backwards, after midnight, the devil will appear in your bathroom mirror Laughing Laughing

I want as many different types as possible in the show. All the work we've done so far has given us girl shoppaholics and hairdressers who want to live celeb lifestyles. We've got to reflect all levels of spending in the UK which includes cruisers, bikers, banger, racers, gamblers, gadget folks, holidayers, mini breakers.........

As long as the topic keeps going the more people will read it and my job gets easier....200+ and counting so far

I'm sorry buy I disagree, the BBC don't get paid for advertising like commercial channels but this is an advert for his show. Yes they want people to be on the show but far more people will see this as an ad than will be invited on. He's even just said;

Suggesting to me "right, that's one ad done, onto the next".

The girl that posted on here as a first post asking someone to moderate the bike section of her forum was bombarded with SPAM votes. She wasn't selling anything too, if anything could be said she was advertising her site too.

I don't think that someone should have their spam vote removed because one of the moderators doesn't agree with it. I'm not saying this board is a democracy but one rule for one and not for another? Shocked

The intention of his post was not to get viewers for the programme, whether that happens as a result of his post or not is something different, as long as it wasn't his intention to try and boost the BBC ratings for that programme, then it's fine.

You can't have an opinion whether it is spam or not. Korn has defined "spam", if the post fits into his definition then it is spam, if it doesn't then it is not. Dom's post did not fit into the definition.

As regards to the other persons post, they were probably trying to get viewers for the forum, something as I have said, that Dom was not trying to do.

Spam? Someone asks us to be on TV and it get's called Spam?! It's not like he left the message and did a runner, he stayed around for a debate to explain why he wanted us. When you get spam email you don't usually get into a conversation about the product!

If he's been asking for people to test ride bikes for a BBC programme would that have been rated as Spam?

It is unsolicited material, exactly the same as that young girls site. It is in effect advertising the programme. The poster admitted that he is wandering around slapping this up all over the net, the definition of spam in the guidelines is
Quote:
Use this reason only if you spot a blatant piece of unsolicited commercial advertising, similar to what you would term junk mail.

Now to me, someone making an account then bumping their post is spam, similar to junk mail and so it was rated as such.
/shrug It's the first and last time I'll bother using the 'karma' system, as it apparently is revoked summarily. Makes having an opinion somewhat worthless, doesn't it?

Am I the only person who noticed that he instantly links bikes and racing together?

Does not bode well for a good light on bikers in the program...

An interesting debate as to whether this is spam! Technically I don't think it is however Dom and his colleagues have in mind a certain 'profile' of an individual that they want to film. He has stated that he is running ads elsewhere. What he will do next is ask people to fill in a questionaire and then depending on the profile he has thought of will invite a number of people (probably 50) for an interview and these will be filmed. Those that come across well (i.e. photogenic, interesting or quirky personality depending on the profile) he will select a number for the series - if there are five episodes then five to seven people will be selected to be filmed.

That's how it works! The chances of someone here being selected are, I reckon, about 500 to 1.

It won't be me as I am too old - however, Dom, if you decide to do a programme on mid 40's people leading hedonistic lifestyles yet retaining an air of formality - I'm your man!!! Cool Laughing

*sigh* yet another sad excuse for TV programming.. reality TV and getting real people to make idiots of themselves is all TV companies seem to be able to come up with these days. It's cheap and the brainless Big Brother masses will watch it, and perhaps we can suck a few more people down with them. Whoopee.

Seems like reality TV dressed up as 'we want to help people who are in debt'.

Yet more dumbing down of TV, a waste of my licence fee again Rolling Eyes

Sorry. I don't think much of television production in this country at the moment. Thumbs Down

Well, I'm back again. If I'm on the site two days running and continuing the debate, is it still spam?

We really need people on the show and I'll pick up a few points from above:

1. The chances of getting on the show are much lower than you think. I'd say more like 10 to 1 if you fit the criteria of the show.

2. I am soliciting people but in a nice way.

3. All tv is reality tv unless it's drama.

4. It's not wifeswap. It's the BBC.

Regardless of whether it's quality broadcasting or not, he's not come here to advertise the programme. All he's doing is asking for participants. Obviously he has to tell us what the programme is about to get participants.

Where better to find bikers than a biker website? Liek I said before, if they were asking for test riders for a bike programme to wouldn't all start saying he was just here to advertise a bike programme we would all be queueing to sign up!
