as some may know the midlands section has a camping trip including a trackday planned in the early part of july. Myself having never done a camping trip on the bike decided i wanted to do a sort of test run before the planned trip in july as all my gear is new and was curious as to how i would get on with it.

after seeing the forcast for this weekend was nothing short of perfection, i decided to go for it and put up a post in the midlands in the hope i may have some company and colin1 agreed to join me Very Happy

i set off from chesterfield on saturday at 10.30am and met colin at stafford mcdonalds at 12.00, had a bite to eat then set out for wales.

arrived at crossgates in wales at around 3.00pm (i think) found the campsite and set up camp.

after a short rest at camp we headed out to some nearby reservoir's to take in some scenery and i was quite impressed with this

there was a board with loads of info on it but all i can remember was that it was built in 1903 and is around 50m high Shocked , heres a few more of the same and one of colin doin his thaaang Laughing

after this we went back to camp and had another little rest then headed out for a hoon on colins favourite road before it got too dark and on the way back called in at a pub for a swift pint Very Happy and watch the local folk puke up at the bar Laughing

we then headed back to camp, had a few cans and called it a night.

woke up around 9.30 this morning(sunday) and decided to go to aberystwyth, the road from crossgates to aberystwyth is probably the best stretch of road known to man and i fell in love with it almost instantly, if your ever in wales you gotta try it Drooling

anyways, got to aberystwyth and parked up, took a few pics.

chilled out on the beach for a while, skimmed some stones etc....

apparently im only allowed 10 pics per thread so i will do part 2 tomorrow(if anyones actually bothered Laughing ) as im pretty knackered now.

Was that reservoir Lake Vyrnwy? It looks very familiar. If it is, it is the reservoir that feeds Liverpool and the village of Llanwddyn is submerged in the middle of it. I had a great ride out that way beginning of last year, just after all the flooding.

Good pics Thumbs Up

Did you push on into North Wales or stop there? Went to Snowdonia a couple of months ago and the roads were just fantastic, just a shame I was in a diesel peugeot estate rather than on 2 wheels Sad I will go back, one day.

I remember Deanoet & I going to Aberystwyth for our tea last year, we parked where all the bikes are in the picture, but there was only us 2 and 1 other bike.
Wales has some great roads for biking, Dean led along some brilliant ones in that area. We never had blue skies like that though, it rained for most of the day Sad

Great pictures Salty, makes me want to plan a weekend camping there again. Thumbs Up

Why not go camping on your own? I have recently had a week in Cornwall on my own, it was a great week away from everyone.

Very nice guys, I'm starting to get a feel for our trip allready, and if the weather for your trip is anything to go by then it's going to be spectacular! I'm quite disapointed we can't make it out on the thursday now. Sad

That dam is really odd, bet you'd get some killer (literally) eddies from that Shocked

They had a rock festival at the castle last weekend, was cool Smile

Bikes are now banned from parking on the seafront, doesnt seem to be stopping me or a hundred others doing it Razz

The road from Elan valley to aberystwyth is probably my favourite in the world on a sunny day.
