TZR125 engine. When its fitted to a TZR. The engine is mounted alot further forwards. So the gear selector lever comes off the selector shaft. And towards the back of the bike.

Now in my pit bike, The engine is mounted further back. So the gear selector lever comes off the selector shaft, And forwards. So I can operate it with my left foot (toes).

Now, As the lever has been rotated on the shaft 180 degrees. The gearbox now operates in reverse. Laughing
So First is at the top, Then down to second, And so on.

I dont want this!

I dont want it one bit actually.

Not when I have a TLR1000 which I use on a regular basis. Fuck knocking it down a gear when going at full chat! It will throw me off the front.

So, Any ideas on how I can reverse this setup back to standard?
There is no linkage like on a sports bike, So you cant just reverse it on the shaft and be done with it. The lever is hard fixed to the link on the engine unfortunately.

If you have a dtr/tzr manual you could check to see how the gearbox components fit together, i have my suspicions that the gearbox internals are laid out in the same order on the shafts so you could get away with fitting the gear selector barrel from a dtr which is designed to operate with a lever in the position yours is in, that way you keep the nice one piece lever.

if this isn't the case then your gonna need to make a linkage with the pivot points being one at the top and the other at the bottom so that the movement is reversed.

I was thinking about changing the gearbox internals or selector barrel for something more suited to its purpose.
The DT125 and TZR125 engines are completely different though.

Other than that, I think a linkage is my only option. Only thing is, The selector will need mounting somewhere. And finding room is going to be hard.

it doesn't take much to get used to having two different gear boxes, you may make a few mistakes in the first week but you soon get used to it.

trick i learnt when i was first getting used to the norton box (upside down and right foot) was to put an arrow on the handlebars to remind me.

You could always reverse the linkage on the TLR no?

Atleast they'd both be the same then.

It would also make your genitals huge, because you could tell everyone you use a race style shift pattern. Cool
