After years of wearing leathers my first foray into the world of textiles was a bit of a disaster. I got some cordura type trousers a couple of years ago and was dismayed to find my butt sliding all over the seat, frequently bashing my nadgers on the tank under strong braking and sliding to the back of the seat under acceleration…
…but I got used to it and adapted. Now after a couple of years of commuting in textiles it all seems quite natural.
Then a while back I picked up a set of second hand leathers from Ebay. I wore them last night for a blast to visit some friends and found it crippling how much they stuck to the seat. Moving around the bike entailed peeling my backside of the seat before repositioning for the next corner. Too much like hard work when I’m used to just sliding from side to side as required.
Again, I’m sure I will adapt in time, but I made a pig’s ear of a series of bends by getting stuck with my weight over the wrong side of the bike. Embarrassing and a bit wobbly. Luckily it was very late and the roads were deserted.
So what’s your opinion? High friction or a little bit slippy? ____________________ 2007 CBF1000 & 2016 CBF1000F - Commuter heaven | 1994 CBR600FR - Awaiting defibrillation |

Slippy works for me. Even go as far to silicone spray my seat from time to time.
Made a mistake in doing the pillion seat though, Pillion slippage is not funny (for them). ____________________ My mum smells your fingers |

Found myself sliding about too much on the Divvy when I re-waterproofed my trousers. Wrapped some of that anti-slip black rubberised matting (Oxford do rolls of the stuff and it is the same as the stuff used to stop rugs sliding about on laminate flooring) and that kept me planted. Great for pillions as it locks them in place and stops them clattering into you under heavy breaking.
