Hey guys.

Was just out for a wee run on the CG seeing as i've not had the chance the last couple of days.

Decided for some reason i wasn't wearing jeans and stuck on the textiles.

So i was coming through aberlady, and after the first sharp corner heading out, i came to the sharp right next to the beach and there was something on the road so i avoided it through the corner, then realised i wasn't turning enough. So i looked through the corner and leaned a bit more but it was all in vain...

I hit the curb with the front tyre, then the back tyre, then the centre stand and the bike went straight over on the side, and i flew onto the pavement and rolled onto the grass. Lucky me.

A cager stopped and a couple walking picked up my mirror, helped me up and pulled the bike up to the side of the road. They also said that i wasn't even going that fast through the corner Confused

Damage to me:
Skint elbow & knee
Sore wrist where i hit the ground
sore shoulder

Damage to bike:
Broken left mirror
cracked headlight
cracked mudguard
bent footpeg
scraped pillion grab handle
Bent Speedo unit
And a nice few scrapes on the indicators and clutch handle

Other than that it was fine and started first kick.

So off i went on my merry way with the mirror in my pocket.

And i would have taken pics... but i landed on my phone and broke it.

Any crash you can walk away from is a good one.

Just make sure you check that you haven't bent the frame or forks, as they are a bit flimsy on the old CG.

Just glad i didn't land on the road, couple cagers flew past not even slowing down

Yea the frame is fine, same with the forks.

Checked it all over at the side of the road to make sure nout was wrong with it.

And yea the brakes do suck, my emergency stop consists of sitting on the tank holding the front brake as hard as i can and pressing the back brake without making it lock up Thumbs Up

After my off the other day nobody who saw it stopped, this was on a busy(ish) roundabout and people just drove past, even though they had to go completly out of the way to get passed my bike.

Top guy in a merc stopped about 30 seconds later and helped me pick the bike up and generaly checked me and my pillion were ok. Was an asian dude by the way, so that destroys two steriotypes.(evil merc drivers and nasty asian people)

Glad your ok anyway and the damage wasnt too bad, could have been alot worse by the sound of it.

Hope the bikes sorted soon Thumbs Up

Cheers guys.

just lucky i landed on the grass Laughing

Did manage to smash my phone and tear up my elbow when i landed but i suppose better that than any bones broken.

And i'll have a look at the bike tomorrow, if all is well i'll go back and see if i can find out why i managed to crash after going through so many times no problem.

Will get some pics too.

Exact corner I nearly hit the curb on about 2 months ago. Surprised

There is a nice view stright ahead and its a right turn.
For some reason I kept looking at the nice view while turning right. Laughing

Kerb starting coming up closer, realised i was going to hit it, tipped it in more and managed to save it. Cool

You weren't practicing your 'drifting' by any chance.
My comments in that thread (less than a month ago) seem strangely prophetic now.
Think i'll change my username to 'misternostradamus'.

Wink

Seriously though, sounds like both you and the bike got off lightly, be thankful to the sweet baby jesus for that.

I should have gave it a bit of rear brake and seen if i could save it Laughing

yea... psychic or what?

maybe it's just predictable.

Yep i certainly did. as i lay there looking up at the sky making sure my arms and legs were still there i realised how lucky i was to have landed on the grass Laughing

And Faraz, it's a bad wee corner, nearly binned it there before.

I'll do a filtering video with the camera on the bike sometime, and put it onto youtube. It's easy once you know how big a gap you can squeeze your bike through. I have found that most car mirrors are lower than my bars so i can get through easily.

I think a filtering rideout would be funny Laughing

meet in the centre of edinburgh just before rushour and race to see who can get to a certain bit by filtering through traffic.

Fun and games....

Anyways, yea.
