To swap or not to swap????

A 1991 cbr600f has come up for sale locally at a reasonable price. Havent seen it yet but know up until recently it was owned by an older chap who got rid for a bonneville.

I currently own a 98 gsx600f which was stolen a few months back and i got back on the road but now looks a bit tatty due to cracked and mismatched fairings and locks etc. Its not a bad bike but i just kind of dislike it since i got it back with its reminders of the theiving little scum that took it. It is also my first big bike since passing my DAS last year.

Not being very well off just now i had intended to keep it until next year then upgrade to something new when my loan ends but i cant stop looking at ebay/bike trader/ mcn for bargains.

Just wondering if anyone who has ridden both bikes could tell me if the honda is much better than the suzuki or if i am just going to be wasting money i dont really have spending a couple of hundred quid swapping to a prettier looking bike. I know power figures for the gsxf claim 86bhp and 100 for the cbr. Will this much more noticeable out on the road? Although my bike has allegedly done fewer miles and is newer would the handling be nicer on the cbr or much of a muchness(in general - i appreciate wear and tear will vary)?

And finally how much would you pay for a 1991 CBR - clean looking but definately not concourse?

they are much of a muchness, the cbr will have better resale due to the reputation of hondas having better build quality and reliability.
but this is really just an old wives tale, they are no better or worse than the other manafactures out there,
if you like the cbr better, then go for it, if your not fussed, then just bide your time,
the old oil boiler engine is a good'un and will keep you going untill you can afford something bigger

Dealer or private?
Saw a clean looking one go for £900 from a dealers, though I don't know about the miles on it. I'd give £1k - 1.2k private for one in good nick with decentish miles. As for resale for you, unless you destroy it you'll sell it no problem. New riders always wanting a cheap sporty bike.
