SAFETY NOTICE.

Would the people who know so little they don't even know how little they know please stop posting bollocks in the workshop before someone seriously damages their bike or themselves if they listen to you.

You know who you are.

Thank you.

I suspect the problem with them is that they actually do not know who they are. They blindly give out advice like... err... someone giving aout advice. They have no real idea that they are talking bollocks. Mostly its just stuff they read on scooter tuning forums.

I think the only way to teach them is to name names.

(and I'm intrigued too... I've not seen any completely disasterous advice lately, but then again I've only read one or two workshop posts recently...)

I blame the large karma weighting for workshop section.

Ideally this would reward the knowledgeable, but its tempting for the less knowledgeable to be tempted in, with the thoughts of big karma rewards for their gems of wisdom.

I guess its hard to force recreational posters to stay out of workshop.

This thread may not help,as I'm now tempted to have a wander off into workshop...

I might have found it... hehehe I did read it, and I disagreed but I couldn't be arsed to correct it at the time. My net connection was over my phone and it was too slow to be bothered with replying.

Problem is I seem to be getting personally pissed off with one member in particular who seems to think he knows everything yet seems to know next to nothing and I would hate for people to think I was be a bit nasty to him.

I know who you mean, and he started off with some pretty knowledgable stuff, and descended into foolishness, in more than one area of the forum. If he had have stayed doing what he was doing when he first joined, I suspect he would be a well liked and respected member by now. Instead I think most people just ignore him.

The pain in the Workshop is that he can actually write english, and people will often trust a workshop post on that basis. I for one would never trust a "It could be runnin leen, my m8 had that and he needed new carbz".

Not if you hotlinked it from another website.

I just want to clarify something. Is it me?

I don't bother answering workshop threads/post on the forum any more, most of the threads are stupid teenagers with stupid questions.

Have,nt seen a real workshop question/problem in ages.

This is so unfair. As I know fuck all worth posting in workshop, I take in everything I read there.

Of course, I then follow my trusty HBOLs as my spanners are no longer allowed in the same room as the Internet after the brake bleeding incident (which closely resembled the old "clowns with buckets and fire extinguishers" routine)...

How am I going to be able to ignore the bad advice as well as the good advice now?

If you dont have enough sence to take anything you read without a pinch of salt on bcf, then sometimes you deserve it i suppose.

If something i know i dont know i will wait for several people to confirm its correct usually looking for well known people such as keith replying to make me sure before id undertake the work.

Lol, Colin has it right, it's all about the quest for gold karma.

Bless em.

Does that also mean someone with a REALLY unreliable bike should be getting loads too? Being the OP and all?
