Idea shamelessly stolen from MCNNinjas. Shifty

Rules are the same as the Top Gear cool wall. Which bikes are universally cool or uncool to bikers and non-bikers alike.

i.e. Most sportsbikes would be considered uncool because they're too try hard and all look very similar, but something like a Vespa would be cool as it's small and Italian. I'm sure you all get the idea.

I'll start, the Moto Morini Corsaro has to be cool:

https://www.bikez.com/pictures/moto%20morini/2007/25060_0_1_2_corsaro%201200_Image%20credits%20-%20Moto%20Morini.jpg

and the Paul Smart Ducati

https://www.mcnews.com.au/Wallpaper/Ducati/Retro_2004/PaulSmart_RHS_1024.jpg

Opinions, suggestions?

How the bejesus can a Rothmans NSR250 not be cool?

The SP1/2 is a fucking cool bike, and is of the era where roadbikes we're very similar to their "racing" counterparts. So thats very cool, and the Castrol Honda Scheme is made of win.

So which "Race Rep" is uncool then?

Y'see, it's the whole 'replica' thing.

Is a 'replica' watch cool? No, it's a cheap nasty knock-off of the real thing.

Is a copy of a Stratocaster cool like a real Fender? No, cos it's a copy of someone else's idea.

Fakes aren't cool. They can be damn lovely to look at and awesome to ride but they're not *cool*.

Not cool. Looks like it's trying too hard. I bet there's 'explaining' to be done.

That bike called Brian looks like it's been flattened by a really heavy person.

The Benelli looks an awful lot like this:

Not sure which came first, but that's an '06 ER-6n.

I'll roll with that. Thumbs Up But I prefer to look at a bike individually, and not put it in a pigeon hole.

More often than not you can look at a bike and break it down into its components, and realise, shit me, what a piece of engineering.

For instance, I wouldnt call a BSB ZX7R "Rep" fake, as half of its development and technology was on the track!

I always seem to think of "Reps" as just paintjobs, maybe thats why I dont judge as harshly.

Fair play though.

Fair point. I'll happily conceed that the Rothie is cool as hell, but it would only be allowed on my cool wall cos it's other features are cool enough to outweigh the tremendous drag factor of having 'Rothmans' written down the side.

Thumbs Up

I see what you did there. Bu-boom. Tish etc.

@ Nowhere - i believe the nekkid Tornado pre-dates the Kwack. I'd be extremely surprised if the I-ties were taking their styling cues from our little yellow chums.

Race reps aren't cool.

In a top gear stylee small european cars are all pretty cool, I'd say that what BMW call 'Dynamic roadsters' are cool. This is borne out by the fact that I've just got back from Rome and every 'proper' bike you see is either a Hornet, a GSR600 or an FZ6. Naked bikes are cooler than faired bikes. Two strokes are cool if they are over 125cc.

I genuinely think that this is a candidate for sub zero:

https://www.bikechatforums.com/files/picasabackground.jpg

I also think that my MZ is cool because it is a genuine rat bike, not a contrived survival bike. I don't have pics of it though. Maybe I'll take some.

I think we're all gonna be a bit biased. The whole concept of the top gear cool wall was would a non car enthusiast (some actress? can't remember her name) be happy riding in it.

Now, so far I'd be happy owning most of the bikes listed. But... would someone who knows nothing about the BHP, weight, handling or even what a race-rep is be a happy pillion on one. Someone who is shallow and more concerned about the looks, sound and exclusivity.

If I talk to my un-bike-educated girlfriend about the performance of a 'cool' bike she exclaims "boring". If I show her a picture, she'll say 'cool'

Hope this makes sense.

Now to destroy any credibility of my views, I give you the Triumph TT600

https://www.motorbikestoday.com/gallery/images/Triumph-TT600.jpg

It's a Triumph, British, good performance, great chassis, first 600 in it's class to have FI, looks are marmite, and was only made for a few years so aren't very common. Ohh, and I have one Very Happy

I actually disagree with that. The K100 is cool... ugly, old, slow, impractical, hideous colours perhaps, but it has something about it which makes it cool. The 98R1 is a phenomenon, but which person would you rather have a conversation with? '98 R1 man, or K100 man? I bet K100 man is way more interesting...

Not cool. The Street Triple is cool, but the TT600 looks like it has a pair of underpants for a headlight. That is not cool.
