Hi,

Basically I have the opportunity to buy a Yamaha R1-Z (250 twin cylinder 2t) from a private buyer. Just wanted to know the estimated cost, documentation required and processes involved in registering this bike? I think it'll probably need an SVA but I'm not 100% sure on this.

The bike is only a couple minutes away from my house and not still in Japan, lol.

Hi

Echo the lucky bugger comment above.

Whether you can get away without SVA depends on the age, and if you have acceptable proof that it is old enough not to need SVA then it is a hell of a lot cheaper and easier.

Fingers crossed I can get it, might mean having to sell the tdr to keep her though Sad.

How old does it have to be exempt from an SVA test? If import tax hasn't been paid then how much am I looking to pay?

Not sure. 1993 rings a bell but that might well be wrong. There was one for sale at the Stafford show in April.
