How are supermotos so good? what's the attraction? are they really that much grippier(word?) than supersports? I love the look of them, not a fan of the off roaders but with some slick massive tyres on they look superb.

Mainly the grin factor, plus the speed, or lack of.

Take a 1000cc superbike, geared for 170mph. Rag it everywhere and see how long it takes to A) die or B) end up in prison.

Now take a 400cc Motorcross bike, add some decent rubber and keep the low gearing. Rag it everywhere. Now you have a wheely monster, that is happy with its arse hanging out like a drift car around corners, you can rag it everywhere and not worry too much about the governments yellow piggy banks and the sneaky fucker with the handheld camera hiding in the trees.

Full throttle a 1000cc superbike in first gear and you will see 100mph, do the same on a supermoto and i doubt you will see 40, however you will see the sky as the front end raises, which is cool.

I dont think i have worded this post very well, but then ive only been awake 10 minutes so it doesnt matter.
