Wireless TV-PC link

I'm a n00b and wondered what is involved in doing this?

I do tend to watch a lot of i-player stuff etc and think it would be a bit comfier to watch on the tele. Computers too far away to link via cable though.

Any help much appreciated.

Or if you have a wii then just use that instead.

So you want to have your tv as a second monitor for your pc?

I did something similar to what you are wanting to do. I had all my media on a PC in the loft, i had to get another pc to plug directly into my tv to get to it though. Streaming like that was annoying at times though, stuttering and slow to fast forward.

Best option really was have the dedicated pc as the media one. So now i have a small pc plugged into my tv, for films or iplayer.

Shuttle pc's are a good choice, also i think asus do a mini pc

lol on *most* pc's you will have a tv out option from your gfx card. (basically video out s-video etc ) if you then connect that to a audio/video sender (this can sit at your pc so no long wires and can be picked up for £20 ish) you can then put the receiver unit (wireless) into a spare scart/av in socket on your tv. setup your pc so that the tv out option is enabled and anything that appears on your pc can now be sent wirelessly to your tv

well if you have a Wii then it has the internet channel available, use this (which is opera btw) and aswell as surfing the web on your telly you can goto the bbc iplayer site and use that, and job done

if you look at the softmod thread for the wii the internet channel is in that post somewhere with instructions on how to install it (you need the wii softmodded tho which is easy)

Not the least expensive way to do it (and I don't want you to think that in any way do I support them, but..)

Virgin Media boxes pick up iPlayer and all the PC 'channels' and go straight to the tv.

Downside is you have to put up with Virgin Media's shit service and rude staff....
