They aren't instigating proceedings against anyone though, so ACPO guidelines don't apply.

It's still stupid though, as it achieves nothing.

These are for catching cyclists, not motorcyclists, so not sure which rules are applicable tbh.

Also, there has been at least one fatality that I'm aware of along the promenade - can't remember whether it was Bournemouth or Poole, as the seafront runs between the two. Youngster ran out from between the huts and was hit by cyclist. It's always the same thing though, an irresponsible few that make life a complete bore for the rest. I thought at one point they were actually going to ban cycling altogether, so I suppose an enforced 10mph is better than that Rolling Eyes

ACPO guidleines don't mean much...

They're hiding behind trees, to catch road users in scotland

About time they did something to curb these prats who think they rule to road's and footpaths...

As they can't fine them.... Perhaps a local council by-law would solve that, as as we all know ignorance is no defence in the eyes of the law....

It's going to open up a whole new thing for Postmen to complain about haha. I get told too often I'm going too quick on my shite postie bike. Admittedly it doesn't stop, but lets not mention that!

so if you "speed" on a pushbike all you get is a leaflet and a talking to wtf is the point ? how many people are going to care what some jobsworth with a leaflet says ?

and the police cant fine people because bikes dont have speedometers so wtf is the point in doing it ??

next thing the nobbers will do is introduce a pushbike licence.

The clue is in the thread title! They are guidelines only, not law.

How many people here would stop for a "Seafront Ranger"?

If you did, would you hang about for a bollocking for speeding on your bicycle or would you laugh in their face, give them the finger and ride off twice as fast as you'd been doing before?

This was exactly the approach I took to a member of Queensland Police, who tried to stop me on his own, on foot, for running a red light on the pushbike.

Although instead of laughing in his face I told him to fuck off.

I didn't give him the finger though, I needed both hands to swerve out of the way as he tried to grab me.

Unfortunately it did mean that I had to change my route home slightly, but that was 'no drama', and well worth it, since he would have undoubtedly have given me a ticket.

We had a bit of a clash of ideals, me and the Queensland Police.

I believe his post was slightly tongue in cheek, although no doubt he wishes bicycles to be crushed.

Quite possibly, but as BCF generally takes the 'we're all such victims' approach and then attacks every other form of road user, it can be hard to tell.
