Recently the A1M has gone to hell in a handbasket with the tunnel widening joy (yay, SPECS for all the cagers to concentrate 100% on and nothing else), but I've noticed their have been plenty of variable speed limts flung up randomly aswell.
No debris, no fire, no workmen, no lane changes... nada.
I think they probably leave them up for hours after everything is sorted.
However, what I've noticed is, the traffic never changes a jot. I know I've got a healthy contempt for speed restrictions, but the bulk of cagers usually don't. So when entering a '40' I would usually expect to be going a lot faster then the normal peons, but no. Nothing.
So, do you guys adhere to the limit? Drop your speed? (bare in mind 100+ = ban when 70mph limit, so if its 40 then doing 70+ is a ban in theory )
Or carry on regardless at normal speed (85-100ish). ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...
From September 2014 to January/February 2015 I will not be using any English, nor reading any. As such, I won't be on here. PM at will, but I won't be checking/posting unless in emergencies. Certainly not for the first couple of months. Please berate me savagely if I break that rule... |

Where there is a likleyhood of being caught I've set myself a "speed limit +30" limit and more or less stick to it.
Thing is, they sometimes use those mobile gatsos on the motorway bits where they've taken it down to 50mph for one reason or another. Again, they seem to stay up a fair bit longer than the workmen they are supposed to be protecting. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |

I tend to go with the flow hoping that someone else will spot the cameras before I do.
The random variable speed limits are essentially pointless anyway IMO as they are poorly managed. ____________________ My Flickr |

Bah, got stuck on the diversion doing that last Friday. Was a horrible ride, although that was purely because of the volumes stuck on it.
As for irritating the police enough for some personal attention, that was my concern too. However, I ran a thread about them (similar to this one) before, and was reassured multiple times that it's just automated and we simply don't exist.
I don't take the piss (often) through them, but I definitely don't feel any need to keep an eye on my speed. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...
