How many people won't even know they're going to be in it, let alone opt out? I'll opt out for my missus, my Dad, my Mum and everyone else I know that won't know how to do it. Laughing

According to the BBC there were an enormous number of objectors contacting them and they suggested that to 'opt out' you send E (that's a capital E) to the 118800 number by text and it will 'remove' you from the list. They were referring folk to their website to get more information, but gave this info out for those without internet.

I agree that it should have been an opt in rather than an opt out as even though they are saying your number isn't actually sent out (as per Mudskipper's post) it is still contrary to what many of us signed up to over 10 years ago, even if the contracts are renewed with additional contract terms each time - does anyone actually read the bumph? (I know, I know Rolling Eyes

You have to pay real life money to opt out though.

I know its worth opting out but still... it feels like blackmail.

This is the info from their privacy policy regarding going ex directory.

Personally im not happy that my mobile number may be in this directory somewhere even if they dont actually give out your number.
My mobile is private, if i want someone to be ableto contact me on t then i will give them the number.

The thing with ex directory is people still ring the house trying to sell sh1t. Even worse is those automated calls. You can't even tell them to f*ck off.

Well my mobile was bought using a £20 note from tesco and i buy top-up vouchers using cash.

There is nothing to assosciate that number with me.

Couldn't give a monkeys to be honest. I stopped answering my mobile to unrecognised numbers years ago, and we don't even plug the landline in anymore.

Why waste your money opting out.
Odds in in 6 months they will pull the service due to lack of use, and run with the money from the opt outers...

Phone rings you dont rec number, you don't answer...

Cheap and simple opt out.

If its someone you know they will text you.

I've been called twice in the last four days, i have never been called on my mobile by people selling stuff before.

I havent looked at the link in the OP but whatever it is i dont like it!
