hi
i had quite a quick 50cc ped when i was 16 and just wondered how much faster than mine people get them. mine was a 03 italjet formula 50 lc and did 77mph on flat and 80mph on a slight hill it was totally standard ecept from port and polish and a removed rev limiter. please post your speeds and mods along with model of scooter please.

nope 77mph i was clocked by a couple of bikes and cars. please bear in mind that a fully de restricted formula 50 will do 70mph italjet tested it themselves.

I once saw 70mph on an RS50 speedo down a massive hill, not sure what the true speed was.

Well if it's only got 10bhp then you can't be getting 77mph no matter what your speedo / your mates / GPS / God tells you.

My 125cc ped had 14bhp and on the dyno it made 55mph. That's with no wind resistance and on a nice flat, low friction surface.

ye those rs50s are quick for 50cc would have loved to see what one did against my ped instead of the stock speedfights trying to overtake cars to "beat" me. its quite fun on 50cc peds cos you can see whose is faster at legal speeds lol.

that must have been losing lots of power in the gears then a peugeot speedfight 100 has 9 bhp and will do 60-65 stock. mine may have had more i dont know the 10bhp was to say it wont exactly be proper bike bhp itll just be in dual figures.

I had a go on a Peugeot Speedfight which was so fast that I set off for work at 8:30 AM and arrived at 8:26 AM. Much to my surprise it turned out that the "modz" made by the owner had made it so quick it was able to travel faster than the speed of light! Luckily it was daytime as who knows what would have happened if I had needed to use my headlight.

I've never seen a ped go fast, can honestly say I've never seen one do more than about 40mph. When I see one keep up with dual carriageway traffic I'll get back to yous

Ah, that'll be the Leo Vince TTX9000 exhaust, -0.14g rollers and the new bioluminescent green powerband.

Also depends on how long you want the engine to last.

Fastest 50cc ever so far: 121.7mph.

Fastest RS50 I've seen is 84.3mph.

Thumbs Up

Hi

Strictly speaking if it does over 30mph or so then it isn't a moped.

No way would a 50cc scooter manage 77mph without serious work (serious enough work that the engine would have a short life expectancy compared to a grenade with the pin pulled out).

All the best

Keith

Fastest 50cc ever was a dry-ice cooled, kreidler 4-stroke twin with desmodromic valves in a streamliner chassis. It did 140mph over a flying mile on Dayotona salt flats back in the mid 1970's

125mph (in the back of a van)

Which incidentaly i find a more interesting subject than scooters which is really saying something about scooters. While seeing a 50cc scooter doing a true 60mph would impress me, seeing this thing doing 0-60 in 8 or so seconds would impress me much much more!

https://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee81/paddy2007dug/MercVito123Van0705.jpg

Just a quick google provided these details...

Quote:
1. Engine details

Vito 123
Type Mercedes-Benz M112 E37 6-cylinder V shape (18 valves)
Fuel injection Electronically controlled petrol injection
Maximum power 231bhp/170kW @ 5600rpm
Maximum torque 345Nm at 2500-4500rpm
Capacity 3724cc
Transmission 5-speed automatic

The emissions on the Vito 123 meet EU4 criteria.

2. Performance data

Vito 123
Acceleration (0-62mph) 8.3 sec
Maximum speed 125 mph

3. Exterior

Vito 123
Wheels 7j x 17
Tyres 225/55 R17
Alternator 14volt /120 amp

4. Weights

The Vito 123 is 20kg heavier than the equivalent diesel engine

The payload will be reduced by 20kg

Plated weights remain unchanged from those for the diesel engines (please refer to the Vito specification leaflet

5. Specification

· The standard specification of the Vito 123 includes the following:
o Air conditioning (HH9)
o Alloy wheels 7jx17 (RL8) *
o Automatic transmission (G40)
o Outside temperature gauge (J65)
o Pollen filter (HF2)
o Tyres 225/55 R17 (RM4 & RG7) *

*only available on the Vito 123

Under its own power a moped will not do 70mph, without some serious work done. Have fun with your daily rebuild.

There seems to be a lot of far fetched claims here for standard 50cc bikes, my 50cc had a lot done to do it including 80cc bore kit and tuned as high as thought was safe, made 14bhp at the start of its life in the cold, and about 11bhp in the summer before I past my bike test and needed the exhaust pipes dechoking or something like that. It was put on a dyno after its 1st service.

I saw 74MPH on the speedo down a hill with me as small as possible and a bigger motorcycle + fat rider in front to slipstream.

I do think the speedo was made quite accurate but I'm unsure of the error. The smiley face gatso things used to always show the same speed as my speedo, but I don't know how accurate they are either.

The bike didnt even have a rev limiter and I doubt it could have gone much faster in that state of tune.
