The missus is after a new crash helmet, one that doesn't cause her massive headaches from wind noise at anything above 40mph. It must be quiet and relatively light and not cost more than £250. Also, I want to get a tinted visor for it too.

Obviously the best helmet is the one that fits best (yaaaawn) but that's a vary personal thing, something that can not be rated by others etc.

So, a quiet, light crash helmet for less than £250...?

Very Happy

I have the HJC HQ1 carbon.

Very light and I love it. I am not sure about wind noise. I havent thought to myself the noise is loud though - I just havent really thought about it.

5* sharp rating too I think.

I got mine for £200 so leaves room for the visor purchase:

Looks nice although she will be wary seeing as the noisy piece of sh*t that is annoying her is a HJC. (HJC CS-12)

Hmm. Any other recommendations?

I'm getting a marushin lid soon, i'm hearing good things about them and after trying one on they are an excellent fit (for me anyway). They also come in some nice design schemes.

I have just bought a Marushin Lid. I don't actully know the model off the top of my head (ho ho), but can look tonight.

It is light (1350g) - think that is the same weight as my Nolan X-Lite, fits me well, appears to be built well, it's quiet (I use plugs too, and so should she) and the best part of it all was that it was only £40.

The RRP was £100, but this one had some slight staining on the design, which I'm not bothered about.

They were doing odd sizes in the same shop for £60.

No need to spend £250 IMO.

A quiet helmet shouldn't matter as you should be wearing earplugs all the time. Silly not to. as even the quiet helmets will be doing damage to the hearing at speed.

As for the rest the only way is for her to go out and try as many on and find one that suits her. It is a waste of time recommending a helmet as everyone's head is a different shape.

+1 to Finglonga, if it's "too loud" it's because she isn't wearing ear plugs.

Wear them or get tinnitus kids. Thumbs Up

That said Schubeth are meant to be pretty quiet, but still wear ear plugs with them.
