I go for something that makes people look and go "Wow, cool bike" rather than "Where the f*** is that noise coming from" when your 10 blocks away.

I quite like the idea of a seriously stealthy bike, can you get ultra quite cans?

Surely it's not a bad thing because then even if Mr car driver doesn't see you he might hear you.

I've got a Micron can on the RF, never tried the original on because I like the sound of the other.

My mates got a ZXR400 with a race can and it sounds the bollocks, only bad things about them are that if you go on a long blast you can't hear for a week and you get a lot of unwanted attention!! Police

Got a scorpion can on my gsxr400. Sounds great. Especially at 4500-5000rpm. Can anyone explain what makes it sound better at a particular part of the rev range?

Oh and when I got pulled by the police the other week he didn't say a word about my exhaust. Smile

Hi

The legal limit used to be 82db, but has now reduced to 80db I think. However 103db is still 128 times louder than 82db (it is a logarithmic scale, and an increase of 3 units is twice as loud).

All the best

Keith

Zims can is really too loud for me, and most of the other bikers out there. It sounds stupid IMHO and doesn't suit the bike. Really loud cans should be reserved for really fast bikes. It's like sticking a big can on a nova ;P

Standard can and plate for me, my bike's fast enough without warning everyone it's coming.

I also get on quite well with my neighbours, who coincidentally is the spotter of the West Mids helicopter, so I don't really want to piss him off.

Its a dillema really, i mean im tempted to get a nice race can for my zx6r, as it would gain me more power (with re-jetting)than a road legal one, although even that would bin the power sapping cat, and give me some extra bhp? Im only bothered about the noise when im coming home late at night after a bike meet, or if i go out before dawn etc. I dont want to risk upsetting my neighbours, but when im out of range it can be as loud as it wants then! Mind i bet the stupid mutt next door makes more than 82db at 6am, so maybe il get my revenge! Smile
