Considering the topic is in bike chat I think it's safe to assume that it's a bike.

I know running around on an English plate over here in NI is quite common [since prices are generally much, MUCH, cheaper over on the mainland], my fireblade was sold by Padgett's at some stage in it's life...although I really don't know about the other way around...

How come you're looking to buy from over here? It's seriously rare for something cheap to come up!

[of course, the hassle of getting a ferry over was way to much for me so I just took the price hit Thumbs Up ]

Im in N.Ireland, up in Derry

Where is the bike m8?

Should be simple enough to get the bike, either get the guy to meet you at a ferry port or there is a guy here that makes weekly trips to England to bring bikes over for the dealers in NI. It may be possible to arrange for him to take your bike over on the outward journey.

It's in the Co. Down area, as it happens it's only 50 odd miles from me as the crow flies bt nearer 200 to get there.
Travelling isn't a problem, wha happens about registering it in the UK ? Road tax, mot's etc.

Hi

You need to reregister it in the UK, which should be fairly easy (last time I did it was 1988 so not that much use!). Probably get a choice of keeping the NI plate or having a UK one. NI and mainland MOTs are interchangeable, although the tests are different. NI tests are done by government testing stations rather than garages, and as with any government bureaucracy there are often long waits for a test there (my father regularly used to land up taking his car on the ferry to Stranraer for an MOT).

Where in Down is it for sale?

All the best

Keith

My BMW came from Newtonards. Basically flew over picked the bike up then got the ferry back. I 'wired' the money to a friend who'd checked it over and bought it earlier in the week.

Got it back over, went to the DVLA office in Edinburgh with all the stuff, I had all of the paper work (including the bit I think the seller was supposed to send away.)

Anyway, chucked it all at the person in the DVLA office and they sent it away for me, asked if I wanted a new reg number, I said no. It needed taxed too, I picked that up from the DVLA office in Edinburgh and the V5 came through the post a week or two later.

No problems for me.

Thumbs Up

Only other thing i remember about it, is they treat it as an import. As far as I can recall, it didn't cost anything but I did fill out a V60 (I think...)

On the subject of Northern Ireland. They have one of the best crazy golf courses I've ever played, its modelled on two pirate ships as I recall. I cannot remember where it was though, it was near an out of town shopping area... Big gym as I recall... Maybe a B&Q.

Obviously I won...

On costs, I know a guy here in Reading (south east), who buys cars from Northern Island and sells them on for a good profit.. He makes more buying and selling cars than from his business furniture company that's been around for years!

I am in Co.down, where abouts? My mate sells bikes could be one of his.
There is a ferry that leaves from my town my dad used it to go to England and get his bike, cost £50 with bike on way back.
Same MOT stuff just your plate will look different.

When I spoke to the guy I forgot to ask exactly where he was Rolling Eyes He's selling he bike to fund a house purchase.

I'd be going into Larne DF, he would come up to see me. It's about £20 for a foot passanger, £45 for the bike on the return.

Hi

Down is a fair size county, and has Belfast between it and Larne.

All the best

Aye Keith I had a look at he map. He says he's only 20 miles from Larne so he's not too far south.
