Celebrity half-wit, Sir Paul McCartney, has decided that it might be a good idea to share his hair-brained ideas with us lesser people. He reckons that if we all eat less meat then the farmers will breed less cattle and hey presto, we won't all get farted into oblivion!
I reckon Heather Mills is well shut of the fruit cake.

If we all eat more meat, then they'll have to kill more cattle quicker. The same effect is achieved via a tastier means.

All for "Triple Steak Sundays"?

All Opposed?

A better idea would be to properly secure shops at night and have them switch the thousands of flourecent tubes off at night.

Oh yes, that's well thought out, "Sir Paul".

Because of all that extra roughage we'll be eating as veggies on a Monday, the toilets will all be flushing a lot more, and we'll all use a lot more toilet paper.

They didn't give you that knighthood for your brains, then did they, Mister Rocket Science McCartney.

Does that mean he wants us to have milk free, butter free, cheese free, yoghurt free and ice cream free Mondays aswell!? Rolling Eyes

I've got a better idea, how about he has a food free Monday-Sunday for the next 3 months and see if that improves his health! Twisted Evil

That's it, game over. They've found out that cows are going to kill us all with their flatulence and people are buying it. I'm not playing anymore. Neutral

He's got a point.

Meat production produces more greenhouse gases than transport or something (could probably find a citation if you really want)

Red meat is the worst, I think to do with the methane the animals produce when digesting grass / feed.

Going veggie is probably a better way to 'save the planet' than driving a hybrid car or fucking about turning off everything in the house after you use it.

And to be fair to him, he's not saying everyone should go 100% veggie, just do it for one day.

The fact that you are all up in arms would suggest you just object to being preached to by celebrities (fair enough) even if there might actually be some benefit to what is being suggested.

Especially celebrities who are dumb enough to marry one-legged gold-diggers.

Perhaps we should all go back to the days when we all owned a cow or a flock of goats (chickens?), rather than expecting someone to industrially produce such things for us at great cost to the expense of the atmosphere.

I could do with having a goat.
It could live on top of my shed.
And the chooks could live inside the shed.

Yes, it is partly the preaching by some spazzy 'celebrity' that gets my goat (see what I did there? HK? Mr. Green ) but also the assumption that if you're not a leaf-munching veggie, then you must be a McDonalds guzzling contributor to intensive farming.

I am neither. I love meat. I love grass fed, nicely matured steak, I love free-range chicken, I love the massive pork chops that my butcher gets from the local pig farmer.

If all the meat-eaters just chose slightly less intensively produced meat (not organic, that's just bollocks), it would help way more that some stupid international tofu-eating day.

And we'd all still get to enjoy bacon sarnies (dry-cure wiltshire...om nom). Thumbs Up

I want a goat like Mudskipper's
*pouts and stamps foot*
But I don't want it to be got.

Anyway, part of my latest adventuring out into the countryside, beyond the boundaries of the M25 is in the optimistic hope of discovering little farm shops and/or butcheries, and bring myself home with some proper meat and veg things, instead of all this mass produced supermarket crap, which is getting rather tedious.

NOT that I am about to fall into the "I'll buy it because its ridiculously expensive and has organic on the label" trap ... I'm not a dumbed down Daily Mail reader.

What's in that, then?

Does it hurt on the way back out?

Macca was a Beatle - ergo he can say what he wants.

Doesn't mean we have to listen to him mind you...

However, I do think we're all loosing focus on the bigger problem though;
