I have been looking at changing the discs on my bike to get it through its MOT as in their current condition, the RHS brake disc's rivets are bent and warped causing the disc to rattle and shake in the carrier as it's obv. not secured to it. The brake discs I have been informed, are non-maintenance or something like that, meaning new disc time.

I'm looking at an EBC Prolite single disc on eBay, wondering if I could just stick that on. As soon as the bike's through the MOT, it'll be PX'd and to be honest I don't really want to hand it over as a dog, but I can't afford to buy a new set of discs for the bike due to a non-related company taking quite a lot of money out of my account when they shouldn't have and they're slacking in returning it to me (another story altogether), even the ones I was linked to on a previous post are 150 quid,

The thing is the disc has no writing on it like mine, mine has EBC on one bit, and the directional arrow half way round the same bit, the bit in the middle. So they'll clearly be mismatched although exactly the same disc.

Should I just whack it on for the sake of expense or is it not a good idea to put discs on that are clearly not a set?

I would have thought that having different braking forces on either side of the wheel would cause some odd handling.

I'm not an expert on the laws of gyroscopics but I would assume that it would generate a turning force which would cause the bike to steer off to the side when you pulled the lever, although I've never tried this.

Not something I'd imagine is a great idea since they are difference brands. I see no reason why you couldn't gget grab a single OE disc if you only need one.

My apologies, I didn't make myself clear enough. I currently have a set of EBC Prolites fitted, and I've found one used Prolite disc on eBay that could replace my failing one.

The thing is the one for sale doesn't have EBC or the directional arrow printed on to it whereas both of mine do. So when fitted, it'll clearly be 'different' to the other despite being the same make and model of disc.

Is this acceptable when PXing as I just want to pass it on without spending valueable money on a new pair?

Hope I've explained myself a bit better. Sorry for any typos, I'm on my phone.

Thanks.
