Not passed my test yet but i've been running a few quotes. Now i'm 19 (but put the search as 20) and also have a drive way but still the insurance on 2000 reg 1.6 Golf comes to 3k TPO Shocked

It's just stupid! What kind of quotes do you guys have for the same sort of age?

Do some shopping about. Serious shopping about. Make it your primary goal in life to find a cheaper quote.

I had a brand new Saxo VTR at 18 (Insurance group 7), with 1 years no claims bonus for about £1700 TPFT. At 19 with 2 years NCB I had an E46 BMW 318i saloon (Insurance group 11 IIRC) for £1500 FC. Tesco were the cheapest for me at the time, but Privilege were cheaper after I turned 21.

You need a car with no more than 1200cc.

Otherwise the insurance will be horrible. Don't you live in London too? Will also be a factor.

Final advice - ring up. Quotes are cheaper when you ring. I now work a massive insurance company, and have had this confirmed by senior management.

Try Elephant/Admiral & put someone else on the insurance if you can.
Churchill seems to be another good one.

At 19 i had a 2.0 Golf GTI, insured for £1000 TPFT in the 2nd to worst postcode area, this was with ecarinsurance.

You're a young driver. You -will- get stuffed.

Back in the day, I started at 19 with an elderly 1.3L Ford Escort with, I think, 57hp.
TPFT still cost me about £1100 for my first year.

Get a smaller car.

Hi

Have you tried to get a quote from Quinn?
I had the same probs getting my girls first car insurance, although its only on a little old rover, quite cheap with me and the hubbs on the policy as well. Worth a try?

I've had fast cars since I was 17, GTi's, VTi's, Imports etc Just remember fronting is illegal such a shame because it can really save you hundreds of quid and it's nigh on impossible to prove in court Wink

fiesta st (with mods), 19, FC, 1 fault claim, 1800, with admiral / elephant / bell, they're the same group.

cheapest i found, putting your (low-risk) parents on the policy will lower it as well.
