Was due an upgrade for my Samsung Tocco and since the new iPhone was due for release hung around for that.

I'd only had a quick play on my bro's iPhone 3G before and thought it was pretty swish, but after playing with my new one all weekend, I must admit im hooked on it.

I know theres a bit of a gripe against all the applications that can tell you when its time for a shit an such, but there are some really useful and entertaining ones to be acquired as well.

Only criticism is lack of bluetooth file transfer and dire battery life, but meh, I can deal with it.

Helps that I got mine for free on a £44 a month contract too, as I was expecting to be stung a cool £90. It's technically a 24 month contract however I get an upgrade after 12 months so exactly the same as having a 12 month.

Err, so yeah, just sort of saying that I love the thing, wondering how it compares to its predecessor from more experienced users too.

I used to be completely against them thinking they were like clits and even used to give my mate heaps when he got one.

Anyway my contract was up and out I went looking for a new phone.
I considered a blackberry and the xperia but it was some of the apps on the iphone that sold me.

I'm into astronomy and used to take my laptop along for use with star maps and the like.
Now I have an app on the iphone which works well and I also have a level on it which is useful for setting up the tripod declination etc.
So for those alone I got one.

I've also found the GPS in it handy but that can be had on most phones. Coupling that with google earth I can use street view where required and find that quite useful.

Keep in mind that some of the old complaints have been fixed with the latest 3.0 firmware update which has just come out.

MMS, stereo BT, file sharing ,copy/paste and tethering as well as a list of other things have been sorted and are now available.

Now I quite enjoy the phone and would probably say it's the best I've had and most useful to date.

Can you point me in the direction of how to go about doing file transfer then as I can't seem to find anything on it, cheers.

It's just something that was mentioned on a youtube vid I watched that listed it as a new function added in 3.0 but I believe it may only be possible when both iphone are sharing the same wireless network.

I didn't look into it specifically so I'm afraid no real useful advice I can offer

Ah I believe it was probably referring to iPhone to iPhone transfer, as opposed to general bluetooth file transfer.....

I upgraded to the 3Gs from the 3G on Friday... there's no doubt it's slightly quicker than the old one, but not huge amounts!

I like having 32gb as my 16gb was crammed!

Compared to the old one though, it's an expensive upgrade from the 3G just for extra space, a compass, voice control and a video recorder!

The camera is better and the focus selector is good. The macro is also much better than it used to be!

It will be interesting to see if any apps come out to take advantage of the new processor and graphics chip. I'm sure they will.

If you are getting through the battery fast, I can recommend the Mophie Juice Pack Air.

Not 3Gs related, but V3 related.. Spotlight search is the best new addition!

I dont really know why people moaned about it not having cut and paste as I never really used it on old phone and now I have it on the iphone I don't see much use for it! I guess copying photos/music into emails is useful!

Bloody hell, a bit pricey for some extra battery time.... though I was looking to get a case for it anyway.....hmmmm.
