Pembrey on Sat, SP1 running well. Second session, 6-8 laps in, fast corner onto the start/finish straight and I highsided, well sort of.

It deff highsided, I think it snapped back around then low sided the other side! (Right hander but the left hand side of the bike went down) I do remember surfing on top of the bike for a little while plus I managed to bend the footpeg on the right side.

Tumble tumble, managed to pull my arms into my chest. Stopped and sat there for 10secs checking I still had all my limbs, got up and walked to my sorry bike.

Bike isnt to bad considering the corner is around 100MPH. I am ok-ish, bruised shoulder and foot. Helmet is cracked, leathers have a few holes. No pics or footage tho Sad

Fastest corner of the track, your lucky with that one. if you had been pinged off the highside it would have hurt.

I fell off in the first sector on one of the right handers, was pissing with rain and low sided, and slid of my back all through the grass, was very relaxing.

Looks like you kit was up to the job too, I spent a night in hospital when I whacked my head my helmet wasn't nearly half as damaged as yours. You must have a hard head Razz

Hi

Glad you are OK, but that is a hell of a lot of damage to your lid.

All the best

Yeah tis a fast corner, I think I may had hit a bump which unloaded the suspension at just the wrong time. It came around so quickly and I am always quite careful guiding the power on. I've gotta keep telling myself it was a freak thing else it'll mess with my head!

Shoulder hurts, I cant lift my arm much above shoulder level atm and my foot is quite badly bruised. Rest of my is fine with a few aches and stuff.

I was a little surprised by the lid, I didnt feel like I had hit my head all that hard but I guess I did. Helmet fairs quite well on the Sharp test and it's not been dropped before. It did its job.

Oh well Sad

OOps!! Shocked

Looks like the bike got off lightly (as did you) Thumbs Up

As for the lid, I guess by the lid cracking like that, it HAS taken the energy and used it to do summin other than simply transferring it to your head!! ... which is a good thing Wink

So which turn was it exactly?

Live and learn! Smile

Better the leather with holes in it than your own skin, same with the helmet.

I came off slower than that and broke and dislocated my shoulder as well as totaled the back end of the bike. You obviously bounce, wanna teach me how to fall? Smile

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d5/Pembrey_circuit.svg/501px-Pembrey_circuit.svg.png

It was Honda Curve (If only it was called something else!) It's a 3rd gear corner for me on the SP1 (and 600 too)

Bike did come off very well, it did go for a few meters on the grass too. Striped most of it today. Radiator ok with a few slightly bent mounts, bent a few fairing brackets/mounts back straight, bought some new pegs for the Harris rearsets.

Will be glueing the fairings back to a usable state on the weekend until I can source decent replacements. One of the headlights has snapped its three mounts but those will be glued too.

I think I have found a second hand clutch res which was ripped off and destroyed in the accident. Honda wanted £25 for the res pot and another £25 for the cap!! plus £8 each for the diaphragm and cover.

Rims/Forks/Swingarm/Frame etc didnt get touched/marked so all that should be fine.

Could had been worse I guess!

Ah, Honda ... that is a fast turn, but not a 'ton' (at the apex) turn dude Wink ... When you said about a ton, I thoguht it was at Woodlands as that is a fast old kink!! Shocked .. The approach to Honda is f-fast, but its a real 'anchors on' corner and quite a tight apex IIRC so I'd say more like a 60mph turn??? - but that is a total guesstimate from a fading memory and from never looking at/having a speedo going into there!! Embarassed

Bearing in mind it is a FAST turn and it was a highside, I think your damage is minimal! Lucky boy (if you see what I mean).

Sounds like the bike should be back together in no time. BTW have you considered repairing using fibreglass? It'll do a far better job than glue ... Thumbs Up

Thankfully it wasnt the kink! that's much faster than 100 Shocked real scary but fun corner, I'm always flat out, 2nd, 3rd, 4th then I get upto the corner, chicken out and roll off, go through with plenty to spare, tell myself to go faster next time but wimp out again Smile

I 'highsided/lowsided/crashed' after the apex, the power was being fed on and speed was up, I'm not 100% sure of the actual speed mind, a friend reckoned he was doing about 90MPH, I added the rest because I'm a little faster Wink

I have this glue, cant remember the name but its very effective stuff, stuck the wifes fairings back together and was almost as strong as new... until she crashed it again then we glued it again Wink It's only a temp fix until I can source uncrashed replacements then I'm pretty much have a set of track fairings Cool

Unlucky.

If you want recommendations for leather repairs, you could do worse than BikeStop. I highsided in my Dainese leathers and they did a great job of repairing them, tears and all Thumbs Up

Luckily theres a lady pretty close who is very good at leather repairs and alterations. Sent her some pics and she came back with a rough quote of £40 to repair the damage. Seem some of her previous work and its very impressive. Expensive business this crashing lark

Mr. Green Thumbs Down Cool Laughing
