Fancy an LS1 Camaro/Firebird as a next car, any of you know what the MPG is like? There's so much crap on the net it's unreal, and most of it is US MPG.

I get 30 from the Focus (Which is a horrid car)

And hi by the way, I know I've not been on here for a while, but I'm still reading every so often Smile

My Monaro has an LS1 and I average 22mpg, thats about 30% town and 70% motorway.

On the long runs home I have seen 29 mpg but thats rare - 27mpg is more realistic.

Town is a bitch lol, 18mpg is a happy avg.

Thats my monaro pushing about 400bhp after its last tune.

Not bad at all, I do about 10,000 miles a year, could easily do 6,000 though if I needed to Very Happy

Well my Subaru does a genuine 23mpg and just isn't practical really. Hence its for sale. Doubt you'd get much better out of a heavyweight yank bruiser TBH.

I can afford it but I can't afford it at 23mpg when I'd rather be spending my money on bikes.

Bastards.
You made me look on ebay, and I found a '78 mustang, 5l V8 with a RHD conversion. 10 miles away too.

Blimey so a nice quick drive of about 15 miles is costing £5+ fook that. Laughing

Even though my car is fooking slow I still enjoy getting 65MPG. Laughing

The Focus will out handle any yank tank so don't expect a good handling car. Wink

Well people have different priorities on the road I guess, I don't /need/ a car or a bike (I live about 5 miles from work)...

Im only 6.5 miles from work get free public transport if i want to save on petrol money, visit the folks every week or two which is a 40 mile round trip. All journeys are split between car or bike (SP1, nice and efficient Very Happy )

I would far rather have the good car and pay more for petrol than 1000000000etc MPG and be bored shitless...

Edit to add, last tank of petrol was 50 litres of V Power which lasted for 153 miles!

I have also considered getting a yank tank once back in the UK for the simple fact is they are cheaper in the UK than they are here. Laughing

think I'll probably go for it to be honest

Don't think I'll be able to get an LS1 though, a bit over budget, those LT1's still look pretty nice though, just need to find a nice manual

You must have a lead foot to get 30 out of a 1.8.

I get between 30 and 35 out of a 2 litre Focus.

Can get that up to 40 on the motorway.

Probably, if someone else has one.
It has the holley carb and straight through exhaust. Needs a decent cam and then it should make reasonable power.
