I don't fully understand what you mean?

You want to do something with the variator?

I dont know that much about much, but If you mean derestrict / modify the variator I cant see any legal problems as its not going to produce any more power I dont think. Why are you asking if your not going to get any more power? I could understand if it was a 30mph restricted variator in a 50 but if its a 125 shoudn't it be geared for best performancealready?. Im just interested on what you are planning to do as Ive always been a bit worried about all those belts and rollers in automatic scooters. I was plannning on derestrcting the transmission on my old Sym, I took the gearbox cover and was immediatly confronted with something that resembled the internals of a VHS video player Shocked . I quickly put the cover back on and forgot about the idea of messing with all that
Anyway, I hope whatever your gonna do goes well, and good luck with it! Very Happy

What do you mean is it legal? All scooter have them silly! I take it what you mean is to put a sports one in to improve take off? They will make it a bit quicker off the line but have no real effect on power. It will depend on what roller weights you put in it as to how quick it takes off. Please dont ask me what weight to get though as I have no knowledge of 4t tuning at all! If you want me to point you in the direction of a garage that will, let me know.

Dont see any reason why its any more ilegal than a sports exhaust on a scooter. If you wanted to keep it totally above board you could tell your insurance company. But they dont increase the power or noise or anything like that, so its hardly worth telling them. Just go for it!

Hi

Legally I can see no problem. The insurance company might want to know, and technically there might be a few homologation issues which are not relevant in the UK, but the power will not be affected. Considerably less illegal than a sport exhaust.

All the best

Keith
