Tomorrow's MCN is gonna have official pics (not mock-ups) of the new Honda V4:

Headlight looks weird as hell...

Rolling Eyes

MCN have been saying Honda will produce a new V4 for the best part of ten years now from their "secret moles".

Don't hold your breath.

I came across this the other day while on the MotoGP sight, don't really get it because it is clear the bike does not have working wheels? Is it just a rough idea of how the bike will look?

Will some honda wanker please just give us an updated RVF/RC40 with 800cc, 32bit FI and 150bhp.

The waiting list would be 10000 miles long.

Damn that's ugly.

O and not a mock up?

V4 concept fairings, fireblade wheels, forks, calipers, disks, CB1000R rear wheel, tail unit looks pretty Hornetey Thinking

I'll believe it when Honda announce it. Smile

Well said that man! If Honda/Yamaha brought out an 800cc V4 with 150bhp in a 600cc size chassis. then I'd sell anything I had to get one.

Would be about the only thing that would make me swap my 600 at the moment.

Hi

If it is real Honda need to get some stylists. It looks like a giant space hopper with a flat tail nailed on the back.

All the best

Keith

Judging by the latest blade I would think it is real.

Was M T Escher involved in the design of that bike? Look at the headlight / top fairing. And the frame / rear cylinder / cluch casing. Confused

Also, since when did honda develop a way of holding on engine casings without bolts?

this bit caught my eye
Quote:
variable-cylinder engine (cylinder deactivation),

wtf so it's just doing to drop a cylinder or two and run like hell to improve fuel efficiency? i can't wrap my head round that.

Hi

Quite an old idea. Alfa did a load of engine about 30 years ago like that as a trial in Italy (from memory for taxis) and one of the US companies did something similar around the same time.

All the best

Keith

but how do you get round the drop in power due to the extra reciprocating weight from the non running cylinders?

Hi

Think that they just give more "throttle" to compensate and get the same small amount of power requried from less cylinders.

All the best

Keith

That is quite some effort to go to if it is a fake.

I like the fact it is a shaftie - which should also allow easy identification if it is a fake - there's not that many new shaft driven bikes about.

That spied version is pretty fugly - I would hope they refine it somewhat!

hmm strange idea dropping two cylinders.
The bike looks cool but not liking the idea about the cylinder drops.

Early days though, have too see what comes of it.
Im always a fan of Hondas "innovative" ideas (though most are just ones from the past that have been dug up and revamped).

I guess it could just match the amount of cylinders to how fast you are going? If you're only piddling along at 30mph you barely need all 4 cylinders. Speed up and it adds the other two cylinders when they are needed.

Only a guess, educated guess though.

I must say, I'd ride it. Thumbs Up
