hi all im on the look out for a new bike and have norrowed it down to either a supermoto or a v twin, i have loved the tl1000 s or r more the r as its faired but i also love supermoto's as they are great fun and i prefer to acclerate and do the odd wheelie more than a stupidly high top end, i know they are two totally different types of bikes which is why im on here asking for peoples personal experiences and things such as that, any help is much appretiated.

I've had a TL1000R and have got a CRF450 supermoto.

If you're wanting a bike just for the fun factor then get a supermoto, if you're wanting a bike with any practicality (things like commuting, long motorway journeys, etc etc) then go for the TL.

How about a v twin supermoto such as the KTM 950?

I had a test ride on a KTM 990 SM. Great bike, engine was superb and it certainly had the fun factor. However if you intend being on one for more than an hour, it will hurt! The seat really is like sitting on a scaffold plank.

I also tried the Superduke, again a great bike and I would have bought one but, pillion seat is crap and luggage would be a nightmare.

I settled for an 08 Tuono (I traded a K5 GSXR 1000) as it is a great fun powerful V twin. It will do pretty much whatever you want but, unlike the gixer, does not encourage me to sit at silly speeds on dual carriageways etc as it is a bit of a job to hold on!
