Yeah so today I found why TL's have such a reputation

I went on a bit of a spirted ride this morning along my usual route, but on the TL for the first time instead of the ZX9r.

I came out of a sweeping right hander at 80ish when the rear spun up slightly as I accelerated, I rolled off slightly then the front end just went mental!
I had my first tank slapper and boy it was nasty. Not just a little wobble but a full on lock to lock out of control tank slapper. Never in my life have I been so scared, I have no idea how I stopped it happening it all happened so quickly. There are black arcing tyre marks the full width of the lane where it happened.
When I came to a stop I had to get off the bike and sit on the side of the road shaking!

I think its time for an Ohlins rear shock and a new pair of pants. Oh And learn how to ride properly.

You're perpetrating a myth, the TL1000R doesn't do this any more than other similar bikes, it was the earlier versions which needed a damper to fix them.

The only problem with them is that they are very very easy to ride faster than you think you are going.
