Tomorrow I am travelling from Medway towns to Manchester, then back again. Very Happy

What's the best route at 8am start time?

Arrow M25 clockwise then M40 - M6 etc

or

Arrow M25 anti-clockwise then M1 - M6 etc

Never been on M6 before, been on M40 years ago.

Ta

Personally, for my start point -> destination, I prefer going M2 -> M25 anti-clockwise -> M1 -> M6, but my wife prefers A/M2->M20 -> M25 clockwise ->M40 etc.

Either way, there's bugger all difference.

Ta, just got back and did M20 - M25 - M1 - M6 - M60 - M62...

and then back again. Mr. Green (although came back on A2)

Wasted journey, plus I came back through Central London on the A406 North Circular on the worst day for flash flooding ever! I had planned to go back on the M-way buy I wasn't paying attention and missed my junction. Doh. Doh!

Heavy, torrential rain, thunder, lightning etc etc. Over 1ft of standing water on the downhill dip parts if anyone knows it. I was trudling along, soaked to my skin with a bow wave coming over the Bandit's screen! Shocked Mr. Green

Then, thinking I'd dodge it I chanced at the A13 - Dartford crossing route, however I again missed my exit due to wearyness and spray so ended up having to double back one junction. Grrr!

So we get over the Dartford Bridge and the sky ahead looks black as f*ck. I split lanes like a mo'fo trying to outrun any downpour and eventually get to a toll booth behing two cars. I sit and wait and see a lorry pull up behind, then all of a sudden..

"THUD!"

I feel like someone has hit me on the top of my shoulder. WTF?!!?

I look around, nothing. I look at the sky and it is almost black and by now it's my turn at the booth. I wait and the barrier lifts sending me speeding into the heaviest hailstorm I've ever witnessed. Neutral The hail is hitting the windscreens of cars so hard they pull over and park under the bridges; there's literally cars abandoned for miles and I can't even see what lane I'm in.

At the top of the big hill comes the junction for the A2, but Ihardly see it - instead blindingly following a pug 206 who's crawling along at 15mph.

Fuck knows how the screen or headlight wasn't smashed, I've not heard loud "Crack!" "Crack!" as the hail hit me before!

Anyone else get caught in it?

[edit] seems i wasn't the only one https://theweatheroutlook.com/twocommunity/forums/t/27056.aspx?PageIndex=12
