Hi,

I was wondering if someone could recommend a macro lens for a Nikon D50.

I've ummed and ahhh about a Sigma 105mm but I can't afford the price of around £370. I'm looking more around the £250 region.

Can anyone help me out?

Cheers.

Don't know your requirements, but you could consider macro extension rings or bellows? Can get them pretty cheap these days - think a lot come with autofocus pass-through stuff too.

I'd say look second hand but you'll still be paying £150 plus for a sigma etc. I've got extension rings for my cannon 40D and ok they do work to a point but not being able to drop the F stop from max open means you have a very short DOF. A sigma 100mm macro I'm using at the mo allows much better control and is great for portraits and flowers and the like. So yes the extension tubes do work but not very well compared and funny thing is a kit 18-50 gets you closer than a 300mm lens !!!!!!
