My bike

This is my aprilia rs50 and I am really enjoying it. Model year is 1999. She's and oldie but she's a goody.

Been de-restricted I believe and has an arrow exhaust.

The only two problems as far as I know are the battery is dead, and the starter motor is dead. Bump starting it is no problem really. No cracks on it just a few scratches here and there.

I've had 55mph out of it but don't often go past speed limits unless it's a long straight with no cars in sight but where I am from not much of them. I just love the thrill of riding a bike.

Next year I will be getting an Aprilia RS125 then the year after that hopefully I pass my motorbike test and I will get an Aprilia RS250. I am not certain that 18 year olds are allowed a 250cc, i've heard different stories. Then seeing as Aprilia don't make anything between a 250cc and a 1000cc i'm just going to wait until my 21st birthday and get an Aprilia RSV1000. I am thinking about getting a Suzuki GSX-R 600 or 750 because going from a 250cc to a 1000cc is a hell of a jump. I wouldn't be prepared for the power as you guys would know.

I'm looking foward to my bike days to come with my friends. We're gonna go everywhere. Seeing as the girl I love is pretty much gone I think there is nothing better than biking, I think most of you will agree.

I hope my head becomes full of motorbike knowledge in my life.

Once you've got a full license, you can ride whatever size bike you like, aslong as it's restricted for the first 2 years after passing, but you may as well stick with an RS125 for 2 years as it'll be making close to the 33bhp limit anyway. (Unless you reckon the restrictors might fall out of the 250 )
Any particular reason you're pledging your allegiance to the Italian devils so early in your biking life?
I had changed my mind 100 times from when I first started saving for a bike until I actually got my first one. Glad I did, I wanted a mito first and planned on a ninja250 after I passed

Nice RS50 and welcome to BCF. It seems you have an interest in Aprilia's which is the same as me. I had an RS50 about this time last year and loved every minute of riding it. Really teaches you how to ride properly and makes the transisiton to the RS125 which I have now easy.

Don't bother with the RS250 as by the time you've bought a good condition one, insured it and maintained it for a year or so you could probably of bought a modern sports 600. You're better off getting on a RS125 at 17 and get through your test. Once you've done your test you have to then be restricted to 33bhp for 2 years. You can ride any bike as any bike can be restricted to 33bhp. However, you might as well have a RS125 and you won't need to restrict. They are pretty cheap to run if you look after them and maintain them well. Don't bother modding your RS50. It'll only be money down the drain that you can put towards a nice RS125. By the time you've been on the RS125 for 2 years you will have 2-3 years NCB and be off of the 33bhp restriction. Then go out and buy what ever bike you want.
