Hi

Well, as some know I decided to get the Bandit engine tuned. Dropped it out of the frame ages ago and took it in to Big CC racing in Wokingham, and then stripped the frame down to get that powder coated again.

Picked the engine up a month or so later (picked it up the day that Bendy moved into her new flat). Got it home and slowly put the bike back together.

The engine is now bored out to 1216cc, with reprofiled cams, a skimmed and ported head, airbox lid chopped off with a K&N filter and an Akrapovic exhaust. A larger oil cooler is also in place.

Took the bike to have a basic set up on the dyno a few weeks back. It managed 155.1hp at the back wheel, but was quite lean. Ran the bike in and was amazed that fuel consumption had improved despite the tuning work. It managed 53mpg on the way down to be properly set up, cruising at about 95, which shows you how lean it was.

While running in the clutch slipped a few times so I fitted a new set of clutch plates.

Setting up entailed fitting a stage 3 Dynojet kit. Peak power is now a touch down at 153.6hp (like anyone could feel that drop). It is using a bit more fuel (but basically the same as it was before being tuned) and the fueling is now 95% correct. They cannot get it perfect as they are not that impressed with me keeping the standard airbox but with the lid chopped off (they recommend running individual filters). However on the dyno the clutch was slipping again so it landed up with a set of Barnet clutch plates and heavy duty springs. The clutch is now a tad heavy and not much fun round town.

The bike is certainly a fair amount quicker now. Will keep it like this for quite a while and see how I get on while my bank account recovers.

All the best

Keith

Hi

They were dropping the engine out of that and stripping it when the bike went in for its initial dyno set up. Think it is making 540hp now.

All the best

Keith
