MOT fail

The bike failed on a poor front tyre Wall splitting, Chain to lose and to tight (so have ordered a new chain and sprocket set) and missing rear torque reaction arm brake split pin ,so not to bad i think for a gs500 `94-95 model.

Yeh odvious if you know what to look for
and as for the tyre i would hardly call a little split a fail still we all live and learn ,need to go on a macanics course maybe

A little split is a fail.. could easily expand whilst riding and resulting into more serious problems.

trust me thats not much that needs doing to it to get it to mot standard, mines a 90 gsxf and it failed miserably and i sorted out all the problems myself

The condition of tyres and chain are basic checks. How did you miss them? Karma

I took my bike in for an mot knowing it'd fail. I was planning to fix it myself and I wanted to know what needed doing. So I took it in, it failed, I fixed the things it failed on, and then it passed on the free retest.

Two of those are things you should be checking weekly as a minimum for your own safety.
