Well after my accident two weeks ago today where I highsided, I knew I needed to get back on track and try to build up some confidence.
My shoulder wasn't perfect, very weak but didnt cause many problems in the normal riding position, I didnt move around to much or chuck it into corners, so not to aggravate it because when it does do something it doesnt like it lets me know all about it! and didnt want to risk losing control.
Cadwell itself was awesome, we live in Devon so left around 10AM and got there 3:30PM with very few problems. Had a drive around the outside and went into the main paddock, it was lovely, clean and open. There was a Buell sponsored Novice only day on so we watched a few sessions, then after 6PM there was a evening cruise, where you basically paid £10 and got 20mins on track following a marshall. It was a potter around, saw about 70MPH max but very useful to learn the track a little and still managed to pop a wheelie over the mountain
The trackday itself was ran by Focused Events who dont have a great rep but we had no issues, seemed no worse or better than any other company we've used although they did move my mate from advanced to novice because he had not done Cadwell before, although they changed him quite quickly.
I started off slow and worked my way up, still had very little faith in my tyres but managed ok without getting good drive out of the corners. I started to feel the rear move in the 5th session so went a little backwards in that one but glad I went out for the 6th because that was my best session, got to grips better with the track and much more smooth and flowing. I was losing a lot of time on the tight sections due to my shoulder and a overweight tubby bike but was as fast as most through the faster stuff. Laptimes were around 2:05 when out of traffic, not sure how slow that is?
The track itself was super sexy, I loved the elevation changes and the cambered corners although I knew I could go much faster through them than I was! I loved Park Straight, the Gooseneck and Hall Bends most. Mountain was fun for overtaking people who had to throttle off due to to much wheelie
All in all a good day, didnt ride as fast I could had but didnt make any mistakes, go wide, outbrake myself or anything like that.

Yeah GoPro Hero 5. Its a really good bit of kit, sound goes a little funny when its to loud, had it on my mates CBR600RR with a standard can and it sounded perfect with no crackling. The original files are even better too! ____________________ My bikes are at https://www.bikepics.com/members/dynamight/ |
