I seem to be having a clutch problem. It doesn't seem to be disengaging properly. Changing up with the clutch is hard, yet it does go alright if i do a clutchless change. Downchanges are hard too. If I pull the clutch whilst moving then the revs do fall, but to perhaps a little higher than idle. It will idle in gear ok although it is pulling some. Dropping from neutral to 1st is very clunky. Oil level is ok - warning light is not on.

This started after it got dropped - it went down on the RHS but the bung and the zaust kept the clutch casing clear of the ground. It was probably about half an hour after it was dropped that I finally got it going again and noticed the problem.

Any ideas?

I know it went down on the RHS but have you checked the clutch cable? If the clutch is only partially disengaging then thats the most likely culprit. Smile

Hmmm.

Its fixed. All bt itself.

From having a look at the clucth from the filler hole when it wasn't working and when it is now the plates are now moving apart a lot more than they were when I pull the clutch,

Any ideas why this would be?

If it starts doing it again, I'd firstly check the oil level is correct, then if its still having problems I'd drain the oil and take the clutch cover off and have a look inside, as something *could* have got moved by the drop, but I reckon it's unlikly really. Is it behaving itself now? Oh yeah, if you have more problems with anything relating to the ZX6R as well as posting here, post it on MCN Ninjas ( www.mcnninjas.co.uk ) as they are a forum all abour Kawasaki Ninja range and will be able to help lots and lots as there are lots of very very intelligent people with lots of info about the bikes in thier brains and are willing to share it with everyone on there Mr. Green . Hope its all working right now though Smile.

Hmm. If it went down on the LHS it would make sense, the clutch could have got a bit dry and a couple of the plates stuck together.

I'd just say that the knock of hitting the desk persuaded some of the plates to stick to each other, followed by rapid cooling after the engine was turned off fused them a bit more.
Then after you got them good and warm and abused them a bit they unstuck.

i had that problem whilst in france, basically i hadnt given the clutch lever enough "play" so as soon as i touched the lever i was moving the plates...which was fine. But after a hard run my clutch became very hot causing it to stick as it expanded inside the basket.

I just re-adjusted my cable to give it more freedom of movement, and it sorted the problem Thumbs Up

Ok then...

So I just changed my oil, then decied to lube the chain as well. Up on paddock stand, into gear and with the clutch in its pulling - I had a look at the plates again (via the filler hole) and when I pull the lever the plates are moving, rather than coming apart. I am right in thinking that I should see one set stay put and the other move, aren't I?

The oil level is right and there is a bit of free play in the lever.
