The owner of the 98 R1 once ate a whole bottle of sleeping pills.

He blinked.

They're very responsive to the slightest twist of the throttle.

When a 98 R1 starts up, the sheer torque of the bike rotates the earth under the wheel in the direction the rider would like to go thus taking him to his chosen location.

'98 R1's never overtake, because they're always infront.

If a 98 R1 hits the side of a petrol tanker at its top speed it will not cause any explosion. The speed is so immense it simply passes through and leaves a hole in the tanker and comes out the other side.

The 98 R1 creates enough energy from a full tank of petrol to power New York for 8 weeks.

Etc etc take a look here https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=81920&highlight=98+r1

But with the 98 R1 its not just that they are responsive to the throttle,
if you turn the throttle it alters your speed accordingly Shocked Shocked Shocked

the 98 r1 feels manly till you ride a 1989 GSXR1100K which has much the same power but far worse handling and is far manlier bigger and heavier.

If you were to park a 98 R1 next to a GSXR1100K, the K would in disgust fall off its stand and crush the R1 into a small pile of plastic and gayness.

Just that tyre technology was a bit behind when they came out. They aren't particularly aggressive by todays standard. They do have more bottom end than most of the current generation 1000s.

It only goes as fast as you tell it to anyway.

Trouble is that a novice won't have the experience to control it properly, and is likely to react in a far too clumsy manner.

All the best

I'd suggest getting a slightly lower powered bike first unless you've already had experience.

As Keith said, likely to react clumsily in a situation and an advanced course won't teach you much. Nearly all of it comes from it happen to you on the road and you correcting it.

Is that based on your 50cc experience? Rolling Eyes Or the assumption he hasn't ridden a big bike yet?

I went from a NSR to a Fireblade and haven't died for a while.

Hi

Lets say that being inexperienced doubles your chance of an accident (I suspect the ratio is far higher than that). That is about the same as driving when just over the drink drive limit. Most of the time you will still get away with it, but not always.

All the best

Keith
