Hey guys, im starting to plan my first trip to Europe and have found some ferry prices to be crazy!

I'm looking to go on the 31st July, and come back 12th August, can anyone find me a cheap way over the channel? My destination is Barcelona, whether its through France or the long way around Spain and Portugal I don't mind!

The cheaper crossings tend to be the quick ones such as the Dover to Calais ferry or even the Eurotunnel. Travel at a rubbish time (eg early in the morning before 8am) and it will be a cheaper crossing fee.

You could sail all the way from the England to Bilbao or Santander, the ferry price will be much more but you have to offset that against the mileage you won't have to ride and extra fuel you won't consume.

Its up to you at the end of the day but I would plan your trip about how/where you want to ride rather than plan it just to get the cheapest ferry crossing. The ferry cost will be a minor part of your trip in the grand scheme of things. Thumbs Up

Try Norfolk Line Ferries. They are cheap and go from Dover to Dunkirk. Smile

I posted a while ago when Seafrance were offering £18 return for a bike Dover to Calais all through summer but prices are back to normal now, about £40 return. Norfolkline are a similar price to Dunkerque, I wouldn't call £40 crazy, try getting a ferry to Ireland, that's crazy. Eurotunnel is usually pricier than ferry, not seen a return crossing under £45-50 and to get that you have to travel at a very undesirable time and day.

Get an early morning euro tunnel and book a random return for the same day [which you don't want to use] it cost me £18 last year.

Do the same for the way back and it costs £36 return. Not too bad at all if you ask me...

If you have any Tesco shopping vouchers use them against the Tunnel £10 of vouchers will give a £40 tunnel credit.
Paid the £70 tunnel ticket with them cost £17.50 in tesco vouchers.
