Opinions on Suzuki XF650 Freewind

I am now getting very very bored of my GS500 and considering any bike above it, I have seen an R Reg XF650 Freewind for £2195 and I'm being offered £650 for my H Reg GS500E against it.

And Im am very tempted, so what do you guys think, I mainly use my bike for commuting but I like to scratch at weekends and do alot of motorway work, do you think the XF650 will do what I need it to or are they total pants?

Its a single cylinder bike so, dont expect it to be particuarly comfortable, or fast (a 650single will make LESS power than your 500 twin), and defenately not quiet Very Happy

For that casy its not really offering all that much Thumbs Down i'm sure you could get a honda dominator, a transalp?

one going on ebay right now for 1800, probably will go for 2500 at the most... very very nice bike, would take you allover the wold if you wanted it to...

£600 for your gs is rubbish, somebody hre would probably take it off your hands for more...

Geting a bike from your dealer might seem like a great idea but you will have to pay allot more for allot less bike 100% gaurenteed, its their job to rip people off Rolling Eyes

underpowered. It was the engine suzuki sold to sachs and CCM for their singles. Sachs tuned it a bit and put it in a commuter chassis. CCM tuned it a lot and put it in the 604. In that state of tune it was only just enough.
So its worse than the GS500.

I would get a 6 month warranty from this dealer and some kind of come back, And I have been stung before by private sellers too.

I know the old owner of this XF650 and he said it was a good bike, plus it comes with 12months MOT, 12 Months Tax and 2 new tyres.

If you look at the stats and as i and robby have said it will be LESS powerfull than your gs, you will be dissapointed... even the largest singles will struggle to push 80 on the motorway while vibrateing like hell... it will be a total nightmare to use reguarly on the motorway.

If you check the warrenty terms and conditions it will often only include all but the worst problems, you'd be better of geting an aa inspection on a private buy, or take a knowlageable friend.. they would tell you about any iminent major faliures, and if anything minor happened it would be cheeper than you are paying for a warrenty to fix.

You will allways loose out buying and you will allways loose out selling, i have never come accross or heared about a bike shop selling bikes at any less than a large proffit.

It your money but like i said there are far better bikes for it, and bikes that you will have no trouble selling when you move on to your next one.
