Seen one of these for sale, quite tempted, good idea?

They seem pretty capable as a softish offroader and town commuter, the only thing putting me off is the rarity and parts availability. Given it's a 2 stroke I'll probably have to rebuild the engine at some point, would it be easy enough to get the bits required?

Any info at all on these would be appreciated as even googling them doesn't bring up all that much stuff! Particularly interested in running costs, fuel economy and maintenance requirements etc.

That's an answer in itself really, maybe a risky purchase Thinking

Well, from what I have been able to find on the internet, the bottom end is the same as the DT200.

It's pretty well respected in Oz where it's more popular. Apparently it's quite nippy with good low down power, puts out 40bhp at the top end and has an electronic powervalve and some kind of traction control system Laughing Sounds like a good bike, it's just this problem of parts. The chassis bits are mainly DT125, TTR250 etc but I'm just worried about the cost of engine rebuilds.

It's quite cheap so maybe I should buy it if it's in good nick. Apparently the engine slots straight into a DT125 so I can probably sell it when I'm done with it to someone wanting to do a conversion (and probably defraud their insurance company Rolling Eyes )

It's a nice looking bike, could probably put 125 stickers on it which would confuse people off the lights Laughing

They were never sold in UK as theres no market for them but they are cheap.. I saw one go a few years back for £900!

I'm giving it a miss, bit tattier than I thought but the engine seemed alright I think (not had a 2 stroke for a while). Are you near norwich? I can give you the details if you want, it's advertised on my work intranet (I don't know the guy though so can't vouch for it or him). He said he'd take £800 but that was before bartering.

If only I had anywhere near that money I would rip his arm off for it.. Id rip the engine out and sell the rest off as dt125re parts.. No many spares around.. only made the RE for 4 years!
