i fitted a new barrel head unit and piston to my moped (speedfight 2) yesterday was running it all day was perfect.

then didnt see a pot hole in the road last night and when the back wheele went through it the bike cut out, revs didnt go lower or anything just went straight off, then it started again first time few seconds after, i got a few metres up the road and it died again wouldnt start again, then pushing it home i tried a few times to start it, it started sometimes but sounded like something was ratteling near the exhaust,

anyone got any ideas ?

if it cut straight out sounds like it could be electrical, loose battery connection possible

I dont know lots about scooters but check the battery cables and earth cables.

or if your pressing the starter and its turning the starter and just not firing, your plug lead has probably come off - you might not have pushed it on properly when refitting after doing your cylinder

Take a blow torch to the engine, run it up and down the outside of the cylinder until it begins to glow, then swiftly dose it in petrol, the results should be... just what we're all after Thumbs Up

White smoke?!?!? that would indicate water being burnt?

is it liquid cooled?? if so sounds like your headgasket is leaking?

when you fitted the new barrel did you use new gaskets?

oil smoke is blue

No water can't burn.... But when heated it turns to steam..... Which by a funny coincidence is percived as white....... Rolling Eyes

What is even better is the OP hits a pot hole and then procedes to strip the engine down......

Odds on as the 1st post that some eletrical connector loosened.... Money on the HT lead on the plug Thumbs Up Laughing
