Advice on tyres

Hey all. Im thinking about buying a new set of Tyres for my CBF 125. The current set are the crappy TVS tyres that were supplied with the bike. To summarise in one word what these tyres are like is 'dangerous'! I've had far too many moments in the wet and just dont want to take the risk of dropping my bike!

Having a look around the web, I have narrowed my choice down to the following:

Continental Conti-Go's
Sava MC18
Michelin Pilot Sporty
Dunlop Arrowmax

I was wondering which tyre would give best all round performance, especially in the wet? I was also wondering how much on average would you expect to pay get the tyres fitted?

Friend of mine loved Arrowmax's, but only in the dry. He said they were not so good in the wet, particularly on stuff like white lines, but put up with it because their dry performance was so good.

If you're after performance in the wet especially, then probably best to discount these.

Thanks for the response guys. I was down at my local tyre dealer who did not fill me full of confidence. Due to the size of tyres required, there is very little choice available. He said that they all use crap rubber despite having a brand name. He has ordered me a set of Pirelli's and I should get them fitted of Friday. Although they will offer better performance than my current TVS set, they are hardly gonna be spectacular. At only £89 fitted, i'm not gonna complain too much!

I got a set of Pirelli MT75's fitted to my bike yesterday. Although I have been informed they are crap tyres, they ooze quality compared to my old Indian made TVS tyres!!

Anyways, my tyre dealer said that he could not get any 80/100's for the front as he couldnt find a manufacturer that makes them. Instead, he put an 90/80 on the front and a standard 100/80 on the back. The tyres obviously fit well and after leaving the dealer and doing 20 miles or so, everything felt fine and I was surprised at how well the tyres held their heat.

On the way to work yesterday however, the front of the bike felt funny when going round very slow corners. It was almost as if when steering, the bike wanted to steer further. I didnt know if this was down to the extra grip I was getting from the tyres or if the non-standard size has upset the balance of the bike. When leaning more than steering, the problem was not noticeable, nor when the tyres had warmed up properly.

What I am asking then, would putting a non-standard tyre size on the front upset the balance and make handling more difficult or is it that I am actually getting more grip now that I have ditched my old plastic tyres! Keeo in mind, I have only done about 30 miles on the tyres so far so they are far from run in.

Standard front - 80/100
fitted on front - 90/80

Yes, incorrect tyre sizes will fuck up the handling.

I would have looked more into tyres that would fit, rather than letting the fitter oder and fit a tyre that makes the bike feel like crap.

Thanks for the reponse mate. I cant believe my dealer would have no issues fitting a tyre without informing me of the possible effects. I guess its my own fault for being so ignorant.

I have been looking for a front MT 75 80/100 everywhere on the net but cant find one anywhere!!
