Sticky choke.

Bike: 1997 GSXR600 SRAD.

Recently i've had idling problems and general over revving when cold. I had put it down to an air leak somewhere, but whilst tinkering last night i noticed that the choke is sticking.

on my bike, and it may be the same on others, the choke cable attaches toa steel bar which is clipped onto the starter plungers on the carb, so that when the chocke cable is pulled all 4 move in unison.

I disconnected the bar on one car and the plungers are free, but the bar is very sticky, i've looked at lubing the cable but it seems pretty water tight.

How can i resolve this as it's leaving the choke open too long and i'm afraid i'll wash the oil from the bores or something adn do damage.

Hi David,

Just wondering if you got your choke issue sorted, I have just got a 2000 GSXR 600 and on start up, it just revs with no sign of stopping even when warm.

Norman, is your choke out when this happens?

Your issue sounds more like an air leak or fuelling issue. s
