Swine flu?
Woke up feeling ill yesterday and have since developed mild flu type symptoms. Birmingham is a pig flu hot spot and we have had many cases within school. As I said the symptoms are relatively mild and I am just taking Sudafed to try and stem the flow of snot. My friends who have had the virus say that it was not that serious and they are no longer testing in Brum so I am just going to sweat it out at home.

No, I am on the Tamiflu but the wife had to go 10 miles to get it as they only give it out in Newcastle. Agree it's not that bad though except for the headache!

No, I have a common cold. Well that's what I assume it is! Started off with a sore throat, then loss of appetite, and now I have sneezing and that feeling of being bunged up and headaches (which I rarely have). Do have the hot and cold thing, but I don't feel ill.

My mate has it, says it is like having a hangover.

I keep on falling asleep and waking up either hot or cold. No headache, no voice, some loss of appetite and an absolute urge to go snuffling around for truffles in the park.

We had letters dropped round to our desks at work saying there had been a case in the building. I did actually feel a bit rough last night, but then I'd also been for a swim in the Thames and swallowed a load of river water on Thursday, which probably didn't help.
Since my 'fitness regime' this year though, so far I've managed to shake of most the 'lurgies' that have gone around so far without too much hassle.

First I am not a doctor so speak to your own.

I have been confirmed with swine flu and because of other problems am taking Tamiflu, which they are not giving to all who have it because at the minute it is not that serious unless you are seriously at risk.

People who have it seem to have various types of flu virus symptoms but from info received the 2 common things are blinding constant headache, mine has lasted 4 days so far. And really bad throat.

I got ill yesterday, was fine the day before but woke up friday morning with a really bad throat and really bad ear aches... (when I get ear aches I fookin suffer too Sad) went to work, felt increasingly worse, haven't been sick but thats only because I am trying so hard not to be as I hate it!

Today I feel even worse, ear aches, sore throat, keep getting hot, ache like fook, fell asleep about 1pm till 7pm and now I'm stuck in bed with the laptop watching TV.

Don't really have a headache though so I'm putting it down to man flu Laughing

Think it comes down to if the doctor thinks you can survive it. As stated earlier they are not even testing anymore as so many people have one or the other.

If you are bad enough phone NHS direct or doctor.

I do not want to phone a Dr or NHS Direct because I think they may tell me not to go to school Sad I have so much work to do (including the scenery for Romeo and Juliet, our end of year play next Monday and Tuesday) that I can not afford to be ill.

I am stuck in the house with piggy flu and have just witnessed the TV ad from hell. An old lady with skanky hair is making sangers for her grandkids and putting white goo on them, she then looks at her husband who has fallen asleep and gives him the look and a bottle of Heinz Salad Cream comes into shot. The stuff is revolting and should have died with Princess Diana and further more she seems to be comparing it to old man's spunk.

Apparently nearly everyone is going to get it in november, mainly because nov is the peak time for normal flu to catch people, and this swineflu will piggy back on normal flu, effecting most of the population, apparently..

Seems that's why mothers are having swine flu parties, to give it to their rug rats now while it is mild. So they don't get the biggy in the winter.

I might be in demand, but couldn't put up with the kids screaming and really don't like jelly!!

Saw it on the news so it must be true!

Nah, i'd bet it was the guvnor, he probably spends more time with the pigs than Johnny Wink

I have what appears to be the start of a cold, but then I have a mild cold most of the year for some reason, wouldn't really care if I did catch it, rate it's spread will probably happen eventually anyway, although this Norovirus seems to spread everywhere and I never caught that.

Don't know for sure. But what I do know is, people will say they 'have' flu, but are out of bed, mooching about, using the net, go to the shops etc. And if they do that, then it's clearly not flu.

When you have flu, you are bed-ridden, and quite delirious, hot and cold sweats, headache, loss of fluids, no appetite. No energy to do anything...even the duvet feels heavy.
