Well after all the fluffing about I had as mentioned in the Workshop section. Today My little pop pop passed the MOT first time. Bought bike off ebay as a non runner for £360. (I liked the colour scheme) sorted all electrics but spent nearly 3 weeks on an ignition problem. New exhaust off ebay for £52 and I'm happy. https://www.atvlondon.net/cg125.jpg

that looks like a nice tidy little bike you got there for very little money

how's it running now?

there not the fastest 125 on the road, not by a long shot, but keep it serviced & don't thrash it & they go forever

It's running like a little singer sowing machine. It starts first kick and I don't even have to give it a hard kick either. The compression is right up at 125. Total cost of repairs came to around £70 as apart from the exhaust I had to buy a new flasher relay and a headlight bulb. Yes I know they aren't fast but I had to sell me ZX6R because it was taking its toll on my shoulders, arms and fingers. I couldn't enjoy going out on a long ride anymore so I thought I'll just buy a little runabout for short treks. As long as I've got a motorbike sitting in the garage I'm happy. Very Happy

My first one was just like that in black. I loved the look of it too.

Nice one - looks tidy Smile

I like my Avatar pic. It's perpetual motion. Free energy! Ask Gary McKinnon the NASA hacker and watch an interview he gave the BBC. Very intelligent bloke, not what the media make him out to be.

That's lovely, but I think the point he was making is that it's against forum rules to have animated avatars. Laughing

Oh, and nice CG. Thumbs Up

I had one identical to that on a G (1989) reg, bought it to make some money, wasn't in such good condition to be fair. My proper bike is a red G (1990) reg, same graphics, I paid £400 last april for it, and in all honesty it's done me dead proud, easily 110-120mpg and as for parts its all service items really (tyres, spark plugs, oil and a set of points have been the only real things its needed) How many miles has yours done?

I've been out on it a few times and I'm surprised how slow it is! I seem to remember my original one being a lot faster, but maybe it's because I've just come down from a ZX6R. Also I've noticed that the front wheel tends to bounce or skip over the surface of the road. Just feels as though somethings not quite right. I've got plenty of oil in the forks and everything seems to be ok, but this bouncing is really annoying.

Just sorted out the front wheel problem. Person hadn't fitted the inner tube properly so it was just sticking out under the tyre. Although this couldn't be seen until I deflated the tyre. All running perfectly now... still slow though Sad

Sorry I didn't reply to you properly. I've had a bad cold and not paying proper attention. My bike has done nearly 16000 miles which ain't bad for a 20 year old bike. I'm going to use it as much as I can as I don't have a car only my transit van for work. So this will be good for local errands.https://www.atvlondon.net/cg125b.jpg

for a cg 16,000 miles isnt all that much, by the clock mines done just over 36,400, but i know for a fact that at least 6,000 were covered on a different set of clocks which then broke, so i pinched the outer casing Very Happy the exhaust looks different to mine, is it a genuine Honda one or is it a pattern part?

The exhaust is a pattern one from a shop on Ebay. The prices range from £52 what I paid to around £70. I'll have to wait and see how it stands up to the elements. Also you could be right in that my clocks could have been changed but I've no way of telling.

judging by the condition of the bike id say that the mileage is more or less right Smile you might find that the top part of the exhaust starts to burnish, I don't know why, but it seems that the original part doesn't have this problem Thinking

Well you may be right about the burnishing, but back in 2006 I bought a brand spanking new Honda 900 Hornet. Within hours the top of the exhaust not only changed colour but it seemed to acquire some black specks. The whole bike was terribly built as the forks also started rusting just six months into my ownership. I sold it soon after as I couldn't be arsed to start chasing rust on a new bike. I could have complained to Honda UK about it but I just didn't have the enthusiasm for the bike watching it deteriorate in my garage. It was only used in dry weather but obviously kept out in garage during winter. One good thing about the CG125 is the cost of an oil change. £3.99 compared to £40 for my ZX6R. That's me doing the work not the dealer!
