Hi
Went to Elvington again yesterday, taking the GSXR11. Weather was decent but fortunatly it wasn't too packed (although loads of people wandering round due to a Scooby sprint there and a classic car show at the Yorkshire air museum next door).
First 2 runs were a mess. First run I was against a very quick guy on a turbo 'busa with a wheelie bar and I barely expected to see which way he went. Unfortunatly the way he went was towards my lane so I backed off (as did he as he ran over the cones). 2nd run I messed up changing into 2nd.
Doing my normal not great times, with a best of 10.76 (previous best was 10.77). I need to be more agressive off the line, something I still struggle to force myself to do. Last 2 normal runs it spun up off the line and I didn't carry it through well, losing too much time.
At about 3pm the real runs ended for the eliminations at ~3:30, which means virtually no queues for about 30 mins and a load of runs. Never really tried doing burnouts (I am too short on most bikes to keep the weight off the seat, so gave up trying years ago), but decided that it was worthwhile to try and stop it breaking traction (and if I made a complete mess of it, I am sure someone would help me pick the bike up). Turns out that the GSXR is a doddle to spin the back wheel up on, and it worked with it gripping decently. And my best time was 10.57 @134mph (witha 10.58 @133 to go with it).
At least I am heading in the right direction.
Might lower the gearing and force myself to be more agressive, just a tad concerned that I might land up losing time by either having to change up or hit the limiter just before the timing lights.
All the best

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |
