 |
|
I'm trying to resurrect my old nc30 and have got everything ship shape apart from the chain which had gone all rusty. I've soaked it in chain oil and ridden it a couple of times and it seems ok apart from a few stiff links. I intend to scrub it with a toothbrush and parrafin then give it a good lubing again before its MOT on Saturday. Will it fail because of stiff links, or will they pass it and tell me to get a new chain? I'm only asking cos a new chain's £65 and I can only get about £1000 for it when I sell it.
Thanks |

If you sell the bike and the new buyer doesnt notice the chain and it snaps while hes riding it and he gets hurt could you live with yourself?, for the sake of £65 and piece of mind change it, or at least tell the new owner the chain is shagged.

I can't find a 525 triple S chain but I might buy this one.
I've never fit a split link chain before - is it easy? |

Got a split link chain on my GPZ and had no problems at all
Fitting was a biatch, got some very good advice from here though which made it a million times easier
If you go for the split link and get stuck with the fitting, bump this thread and i'll link you my old thread

2nd post down I think. I fiddled with the technique a little but the general idea was the same and it made life alot easier. The O rings arn't all that easy to compress
