Red bumpy rash on my arm...What is it? - - - Update

Ey up

about 3 days ago i woke up and noticed a red bumpy rash thing on my arm, since it has been getting worse and its really itchy and think its spreading.
I dont feel like i have a virus but i have been really tired and unable to concerntrate for the last couple of days.

Dont really want to go doctrors as they put everything down to stress and send you away with feel happy pills.

Any ideas?

Could be ringworm or something, if you go to the chemist they will probably be able to sell you some stuff for it. (ps if it is ring worm and you ignore it it will get real itchy)

Hate to say but i have about 5-6 pin prick size scabs on the rash (very small) but it may just be me itching it.

@ CaNsA_temporary, I'm no doctor, but isn't a rash that doesn't disappear when a glass is held against it a symptom of meningitis?

@OP: (Particularly) if you are a student I'd make sure it isn't meningitis, we are always having outbreaks of meningitis amongst the grotty buggers living in student halls.

Looks like urticaria to me, or a straightforward allergy rash.

You need some hydrocortisone cream from the chemist, that should fix it fairly quickly, but you need to have a think about what may have caused it too.

Changed your washing powder or shower gel recently? Got a new watch or piece of jewellery? Been in contact with any unusual chemicals, or even engine oil?

Before I saw the picture, I was thinking Lymes disease, but it doesn't have the right look to it. I would go with Yambabe and say it's hives. It looks similar to what happens to me after I eat something I'm allergic to. Except I get it all over, and it itches like heck.

Try antihistamines, and E45 cream. Don't scratch it if possible, as you might end up having it for a few weeks instead of a few days.

I've just had Shingles and I was itchy as anything with horrid spots etc. There are lots of possibles and most need some medical attention even if they're not life threatening or infectious.

Get yourself to the Dr's or if you really don't want to, as someone else said, go and see the Pharmacist as they are usually very helpful and no appointment necessary!

Looks like an allergy rash to me,i had red spots that wouldn't go away after my operation on my shoulder,turns out i had mild septicemia(blood poisoning).

Have you had chickenpox?

I see a few vesicles there which are characteristic of herpes (amongst other) viruses. Could be shingles if you've had chickenpox before.

They would ordinarily be very itchy, bordering on painful and would get much redder with time. Can also make you feel generally ill.

Sounds like a trip to the docs then - i went to the chemist and they said it may be a fungal infection and that i would need to antibiotic cream....but the chemist looked pretty puzzled by it.

I don’t think its a reaction, i haven’t come into contact with anything different over the weekend

A while ago I got similar occasionally. I can now trace at least some of the times to Biological washing powder. Used to be fine with it when younger, but now come out in a rash if I'm in contact with clothes/bedding which has been washed in it (even making sure it's well rinsed after etc.)

Been Doctors, After hummmming and arrrrring he mumbled a few long words and prescribed me some antibiotic cream to use and said "That may get rid of it"

Anyway a few days later and £7.20 poorer and my arm looks rank - i dont even want to look at it any more.

Told you Doctors were crap!

That my dear boy is a classic Hoggy rash. If it is then you'll be needing some hydrocortisone cream and keeping it out of daylight.
Resist the itch and it'll ease in 2 days. Keep covered until it looks like a slice of dried ham (wrinkly and dry) The less exposure to sun the quicker the heal.
