Alright
I am in need of anyone's advice i have a honda nsr 125rr and im looking to get a race can for her. I've heard arrow cans are best for 125's but unsure if that info is correct so im asking for advice on what can to get. Also i want to get it underseat routed but there isn't a underseat can for the bike so the race can i get a mate will be customising it by lengthening the pipe. will there be any bad results from this like flat spots etc and how would i correct the bad points ? hope u can understand my waffling on.
Many Thanks
Mardy Thumbs Up

don't waste your money

presumably an underseat system is gonna sting you for like 500 notes

that's a decent deposit on a 400

i despair when I see people chucking money at small bikes

125s are great tools for having fun and learning on but in 3 years time you will have totally forgotten it

pass your test and get a proper bike

Race cans on 125's are a waste of money. If you alter the exhaust routing you will completely bugger the power. The shape of the exhaust on a 2 stroke is much more important than on a 4 stroke.

Basically, Mr C is right. £300 will pay for a couple of days training and your test - then sell the NSR and get a bigger, better bike.

I suggest the following:

Arrow Wait 12 months
Arrow Spend money you currently have on test
Arrow Pass test
Arrow Buy bigger and better bike
Arrow Sell 125
Arrow Have fun on proper and quicker bike, without the need for tarting up the NSR. Thumbs Down

Do what Mr C says, wait and get a proper size bike. You'll realise it once you try a bigger and faster bike that paying for a can for a 125 really wasn't worth the money.

Test and bigger bike Thumbs Up , race can on an NSR (especially a 300 quid one) Thumbs Down .

Yes you will always remember your first bike, but that doesn't mean you won't like anything else better or regret throwing money at it. You won't get any return on your investment when you come to sell/part ex it either.

Thumbs Up

your question gave it all away really

no-one sensible and old will advise you to throw your money away on a 125

you won't get it back when you sell it

trust me, you WILL sell it

and once you have experienced a big 4 stroke you won't want to go back

yeah i can completely understand where you are coming from but you must understand where im coming from when u haven't experienced anything better your heart is always in the best form what you know of. When all your mates have got 125's there is so much competition on having the nicest and fastest bike etc.

Why do you have to wait for your CBT to be over? Thats pants. Do your test now and you'll get a restricted license - means you can legally ride anything under 33bhp. However - the restrictors do often 'fall' out. Wink

You don't have to wait for the CBT to be over you can do the test straight away if you have the cash and you can do the test at 17, it just means a 33bhp restriction for two years.

Go on get it done, don't sit here talking to us get on the phone! Wink

Edit - Damn beaten to it!

Pass your test at seventeen, be on a 33bhp licence for 2 years.

The sooner you pass, the sooner you're allowed a full power bike too.

Oh yeah, and if you pass your test, not only can you shed the Ls, but you can take pillions and go on the motorway. Which will also show your mates up.

That exhaust still sound tempting?

You have to be over 21 for the DAS which is usually done on a 500cc bike. You can do the restricted test now.

No you don't.

At 17 you can do your restricted license. At 21 you can do your DAS. In either case you can take your test on the same day as your CBT if you wanted to.

You would probably have a wait for a few weeks anyway, especially at this time of the year. You don't need to book up for now you can book for a couple of months time.
