I know any chips in the headlight or cracks will fail an mot. but would a slight chip to the edge of the protective glass fail? Can someone make this a bit clearer please on headlights thanks as i dont want to waste money on another test.

Didn't think a crack was a fail? Only if it is dangerous or interferes with the beam. My old car had a crack right across the headlight that did not pose a risk and did not affect the beam or it's angle/spread.
That car passed it's MOT year on year and I never changed the lense ever. Neutral

Thanks for clearing that up wasnt too sure as the bike mot test says ANY chips/cracks in the headlight is a fail So I should be sound as long as it doesnt effect the beam?

As I understand it, the headlight should be free from cracks or chips. It doesn't matter if they are affecting the beam or not. I say go for it, unless they're eagle eyed, they may not spot it.

Cheers
