After reading this:

Quote:
A chilling audio tape of murdered model Amy Leigh Barnes pleading for help in her dying moments has been played to a hushed court.

Two female jurors wiped away tears during the 10-minute recorded 999 call after Mr Justice MacDuff warned them to "steel yourselves" before the recording began.

Ricardo Morrison, of Birmingham, who denies murder on November 8 last year, was not sat in the dock when the tape was played at Manchester Crown Court.

Miss Barnes' mother and father, Karyn Killiner and Andrew Barnes, and their extended family left the courtroom while it was played.

Their daughter had been slashed across the face and stabbed nine times with a kitchen knife moments before the emergency call, it is alleged by her boyfriend, 21-year-old Morrison.

The 19-year-old model and Hollyoaks actress managed to dial 999 on her mobile phone, answered by the BT call operator then transferred to a police call handler. The tape begins with piercing screams and cries from Amy, before she says: "I've been stabbed." Operator: "Emergency, which service do you require?"

A loud screaming is followed by Amy saying: "I can't breathe! I've been stabbed! Please help me! Please help me!" Operator: "She says she's been stabbed." Amy: "I've been stabbed. I'm dying. Please help me!" Operator: "Where are you?" Amy: "26, Moss Street, Farnworth." Operator: "What?" Amy: "Moss Street, Farnworth."

The operator then asks: "What's happened?" Amy: "I'm dying! He's stabbed me to death. I'm dying! Please help me!" Operator: "Who?" Amy: "My boyfriend... I'm going... I can't see." Operator: "Where are you stabbed love?" Amy: "All over my body. I need help. Please help me."

As the life drains out of her, the victim's speech became more and more slurred and she appears to lose consciousness.

Morrison, from Birmingham, is in the dock accused of murder along with his policewoman mother, Melda Wilks, 49, of Hollyhill Road, Rubery, who is accused of assisting an offender by destroying evidence. Both have pleaded not guilty.
I have to ask how can somebody actually do that to another person and walk away without thinking they'll either be caught and given life or not feel any emotion for doing it? I know I couldn't kill someone, let alone stab them 9 times and leave them to fend for themselves....

Disgusting.
Thumbs Down

It is sick, I can't find any mention of her being a character in Hollyoaks though.

The graphic nature of the call got to me though, I could just picture the scene and it sickened me. If I ever heard of/witnessed or knew of a guy doing that, I'd kick his head in.

Not Kill, I value my freedom(and I couldn't kill anyone premeditated, i'm not that 'hardened').

Agreed, all they need to know really is "i'm dying, i've been stabbed" & "my address is.." save the rest for later.

I'd imagine its for the purpose of keeping the person focused, stop them lapsing out of conciousness and perhaps distract them from concentrating on the fact they have been stabbed, which is only going to panic them and throw them deeper into shock.

Add to the fact that she managed to get out of her who had done it, which saved a lot of forensic work and a chance for the offender to sort out alibi's/leave the country.

I'm wondering if theres a picture of the offender about as Holy hill road is about 2 miles from me and I have quite a lot of friends who live in the vicinity. It's says its Rubery, but it's not really, it's Frankley, which has been breeding shitheads since time immemorial.

Girl gone for the wrong guy situation, happends all the time really doesnt it.

As said before if i heard or saw anything like this i'd have jumped the bloke as i almost did when a grown man was lecturing a kid today on my way home, poor lad only plucked a flower and he was gettin verbally assaulted by the drunken twat, nearly punched the bloke square in the face when he get close enough to me so i could breathe his foul breath.

No one does anything because everyone is too fuckin scared of everything.

Indeed she is:https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/07/16/article-1200128-05B32188000005DC-976_468x438.jpg

It really is a waste of a perfectly good life, as far as I can gather, because the tard of a 'BF' was hitting her, I can only tip my hat off to her for making that choice but god, there was absolutely no need for it to cost her her life.

The best bit is that it was all recorded and although it was a bit wrenching; he has much less chance of walking away.

I can't believe she was stabbed 9 times; you cant justify that. poor thing. Karma Shocking waste.

Waste of space operator? Would be no good to be honest if both ends of the line are shouting. If I ring someone for help and they are paniccing I'd be shitting it. Like someone said it's to keep them calm and focused.

The operator was helping. she asked where she had been stabbed. If the answer was in the hand she would have been told to elevate it, if it was in the ribs she would have been told to apply pressure to the wound to stop her lung collapsing. Very often the operator can save a life with calm advice.

Yeah maybe it was a bit ignorant of me to say it and i'm probably gonna regret it soon enough, not saying they're all the same,a couple of my friends are black but unfortunately quite a percentage of them are quite brutal and seem to think that they deserve respect from everyone that crosses their path, trying to be all gangster and that

Meh. See at least ten better looking women a day. She was young, had a decent bod and a not unpleasant face.

Seems a bit vacuous tho, but then as do all young girls who chase fame like it is the only thing worth having.

Poor taste in men, would have thought he had previously been violent, or displayed some tendancies before he killed her, should have got out then. If he just flipped, then unlucky, but I don't see why you guys are getting excited about it.

Worse happens a thousand times a day.

The second the operator had identified the issue and got an address, the CAD file would've been pinged over to a dispatcher while the operator continued to get more information and reassure the victim. Response units would've been running to the incident while the original call was still going on.

As has already been pointed out by others, the operator was doing a good job. The tragic result was not down to them.

The police aren't always to blame, often it is public incompetance that causes issue's but because many of the public are the same, it causes a bandwagon.

The police are far from perfect and it's not like they have perfect guidelines and procedures but sometimes they are perfectly within their right's (like here) and the public still aren't happy.

I've gotta ask, for those of you that aren't happy (even the people who have skimmed the thread) in the way it was dealt with by the police; what would you have done?

Then consider, depsite the police's resources... you think she had more of a fighting chance?

I'm guessing not.

From the sounds of the call and the length of it, it wouldn't have mattered if the operator got the info out of her in ten seconds flat, the ambulance still wouldn't have got to her in time. Hope the murdering scumbag gets life and his mother for trying to defend the indefensible.

Assuming of course that she did so, innocent until proven guilty on her part, he is obviously as guilty as sin, no reason I can see for a dying person to lie about who stabbed her.

Cheers

Grim
